Creating jobs?
Most members of the House of Representatives and the Senate have promised to create more jobs for Americans. They can't "create more jobs" with empty promises. What they can do is create laws that reduce trade deficits. This will not happen until US voters demand that our representatives in Washington DC keep their promises. We must sign petitions, make phone calls and send emails to these politicians - if we want to repair our economy.

The main problem with our economy is large multinational corporations that employ extremely affordable labor in China and then export the products to the US.

The U.S. has run up a $201 billion trade deficit with China in the first nine months of this year, more than the deficits with the next seven largest trading partners combined.

China’s manufacturing PMI came in at 55.2% in November, rising for four consecutive months. The expansion of China’s manufacturing sector has continued to accelerate, despite the fact that the central bank in China has tightened credit conditions through raising interest rate and reserve requirement ratio in recent months.

7 of the 11 sub-indices were higher than their respective levels in the previous month. The output index continued its upward trend and improved by 1.4 ppt. from the previous month, suggesting that China’s industrial production growth will reaccelerate very soon. In November, the new orders index stayed high at 58.3% and the new export orders index rebounded to 53.2%, the highest in 6 months, indicating strengthening domestic and foreign demand.

If we are buying cheaply made products, imported from China, we are part of the problem. We all know it's hard to find goods that are made in America; but that can change if we put some heat on our law-makers.

1. It is only going to get worse with the Korea FTA
Many Chinese goods will "illegally" trannship through Korea, getting the benefit of the new lower Korean tariffs, thereby being even cheaper than they are now. Thanks, Mr. President.

4. I'm not necessarily for that
given the Hawley-Smoot tariff results in the 30s, but we can be smarter and more strategic about when, where, and how much to reduce tariffs and we can also write better trade agreements, with stronger labor and environmental provisions and get rid of the investment chapters which cover not trade in goods and services, but instead give our manufacturers incentives to invest overseas (aka send jobs off shore)
