WASHINGTON -- Top U.S. officials have grown frustrated over the resistance of allies in the Middle East to help shut the financial pipeline of terrorists, the New York Times reported on Sunday, citing secret diplomatic dispatches.

Internal State Department cables, obtained by WikiLeaks and made available to news organizations, indicate that millions of dollars are flowing to extremist groups, including al Qaeda and the Taliban, despite U.S. vows to cut off such funding.

A classified memo sent by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last December made it clear that residents of Saudi Arabia and its neighbors were the chief supporters of many extremist activities, the newspaper said.

"It has been an ongoing challenge to persuade Saudi officials to treat terrorist financing emanating from Saudi Arabia as a strategic priority," according to the cable cited by the newspaper.

1. Just so everyone understands that the term "Saudis", does not represent the Saudi people
Those Saudi kings and princes are kept in place with a boot on the Saudi citizens necks by an American mercenary company called Vinnell Corporation.

4. That's ok
We "Americans" aren't running around the world destroying everything we touch either. Our Government is doing a bang-up job of it though.

As plenty of people have said, the Wikileaks stuff isn't surprising. What it does is provide evidence of what many of us were saying all along- that we're funding the wars and the terror through our proxies, creating the problems we're supposedly fighting.

And to think lots of people here on DU thought we were off our rockers.

Bless Julian Assange for bringing more daylight!
