Help me understand this sexual assult charge against Assange.
My wife is at work or else she would shed light it for me. But Assange is not really charge with rape like we would charge someone in this country but not getting out of the girl (sorry being so graphic) before the condom broke?

So basically he is being charge for a condom breaking?

1. Yes - and for having sex without a condom. The "rape" charge
is bogus.

6. and one of the accusers works with the CIA, Smells just a tad like bullshit
http://my.firedoglake.com/kirkmurphy/2010/12/04/assanges-chief-accuser-has-her-own-history-with-us-funded-anti-castro-groups-one-of-which-has-cia-ties/

Yesterday Alexander Cockburn reminded us of the news Israel Shamir and Paul Bennett broke at Counterpunch in September. Julian Assange’s chief accuser in Sweden has a significant history of work with anti-Castro groups, at least one of which is US funded and openly supported by a former CIA agent convicted in the mass murder of seventy three Cubans on an airliner he was involved in blowing up.

Anna Ardin (the official complainant) is often described by the media as a “leftist”. She has ties to the US-financed anti-Castro and anti-communist groups. She published her anti-Castro diatribes (see here and here) in the Swedish-language publication Revista de Asignaturas Cubanas put out by Misceláneas de Cuba. From Oslo, Professor Michael Seltzer points out that this periodical is the product of a well-financed anti-Castro organization in Sweden. He further notes that the group is connected with Union Liberal Cubana led by Carlos Alberto Montaner whose CIA ties were exposed here.

10. Well, since none of us were actually in the room with them...
speculation on what actually happened is kinda pointless.

11. But the charge of "Rape" isn't really rape. As my wife's friend just IM
this charge that was place on Assange is only added to a "real" Rape charge if the assaulter didn't use protected sex. It had to do with something about purposely raping a woman knowing he had aids.

If it is consensual than this is just grasping at straws

15. It was my understand that the woman (or women) involved admitted consenting
so it seems safe to assume that only consensual sex was involved

12. Assange is only guilty of being an asshole.
But, you're only allowed to be an asshole if you're a RW white dude with ties to Saudi oil. Then you can get away with rape, murder, drug abuse - whatever.

14. From everything I've read
Sounds like he had sex with one woman. The condom broke. She said he didnt really want to use a condom in the first place. She feels like he purposefully used a faulty condom. I guess. A couple of days later he had sex with another woman, same situation, in the first woman's bed. The two women supposedly found out about each other. Then they went to the police. Both women knew each other before all this. Both women met him at the same presser. Both are politically active with ties to the Swedish gov't. One has ties to the CIA.

The whole story sounds totally bogus tbh. Who knows what really happened.

18. If I were the women I'd maybe sue the condom company for faulty condoms
So a person buys condoms. Okay he doesn't want to use it but honors the partner's request wears the condom that breaks while sex is occuring. Sounds more like a defective product.

16. That's it. These charges are nothing but a smear-job.
Assange did nothing that could be considered criminal by normal, rational people.

Same old story, same old outcome.

As Whoopi said, it wasn't "rape" rape.
