4. I think so -- I just tuned in and am getting the scroll that two amendments were
voted down. Check out C-Span - I think Schumer will be speaking soon. Jack Reed is now, Franken just finished.

8. yes
The Schumer amendment - preserving the tax cuts for the first million, voted down. Before that the Baucus Amendment was shot down. Both had more than 50 votes, the number of votes formerly needed to pass a measure in the US Senate.

Following that, Mitch McConnell called the entire proceedings a waste of time and money and an insult to the American people.
Mary Landrieu then tore him a new one, verbally, but he had fled the chamber.

Sen. Dorgan has the floor now. Sen. McCaskill took a minute to help to pound home a few points along with Dorgan.
I forget the order but there will be more dems speaking.

Both the Baucus and Schumer amendments had extensions of unemployment attached to them.

Barbara Boxer speaking now.

2. I am going to miss him!
He is not my senator, but over the years I have listened to him fight for the people of this country and I think he does a great job for us. I will miss him!

7. Love how he's inserted "trickle down" Rep policies back into the debates.
A good reminder...

3. Did you see Mary Landrieu (of all people) going after McConnell?
Asking him how he justifies saying his first order of business is to make Obama a one term president (not exact words) and then trying to act like he wanted to find common ground.

Then saying he ran off the floor and wouldn't answer. She says she's going to keep asking....maybe she'll drive him crazy. ;-)

6. Yeah. Got to hand it to her. McConnell spouted a prepared slam on Dems after the amendment votes
- hyperbole is the mildest description for his bs - and split. It was good to see her snag 30 seconds to counter right away.

10. Glad to see the Dems fighting back.
It's about time. I hope they keep up the attacks on the Reps'. charade.

14. Boxer is giving them hell now.
She is saying they are letting 99.9% of the American people down.

12. Why doesn't Nancy Pelosi just refuse to bring any deal to the floor?
I think she can single-handedly torpedo any "deal" between the WH and Senate. Just announce that any "deal" that keeps the tax cuts for those making
over 250K won't get to the House floor. She is still speaker and controls the floor.

Maybe we should concentrate our efforts there ... I am so sick and tired of hearing the media proclaim that it is a done deal that President Obama will cave.
I believe that they are taking their marching orders from the corporate entities that control them.

13. Boxer: every $1.00 in UE benefits = $1.61 into local economies.
I knew economists have studied the local "stimulus" effect of UE benefits. Never heard it set to a definite dollar figure.

15. Good cases, unfortunately, have nothing to do with it
The Republicans have made up their minds to against any Democratic proposals. They'd vote against a bill that declares the earth round.
