Very interesting stuff - draconian security measures for a global summit in Sydney, Australia
World leaders are expected to gather at the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit in Sydney this September. The planned security measures are unprecedented and draconian . Just consider

*Heavily armed SAS (Australian Special Forces troops) will be patrolling Sydney
*They will operate under shoot-to-kill orders
*People may be subjected to random body searches
*Several areas will be marked "no-go"
*Sydney might be declared a no-fly zone
*Wide scale disruptions of communications and traffic are expected
*The cost of hosting the summit is a whopping $330 million and rising

Any bets that the real goal of this kind of security is to keep the protesting masses out of sight of the elite?

2. It's amazing the protection economic interests require when they get together
The anti-social camera drones in the UK, the human scent databases in Germany for the G8, these measures in Australia, etc, etc. It might even go so far as to put an idea in your head that such consolidated economic power holding sway over the lives of billions of people around the world might be a bad thing. That's ridiculous though.
