Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 06:47 PM by madfloridian
and said we needed to "sober up or sleep in the streets." I just caught the end of it, but that is nonsense.

How long does he get away with such insults?

And all Brian Williams said was "tough words."

Pathetic.

24. That's right. Why did he bring simpson out and dust him off?
just to tell us "greedy" commoners to tighten our belts??

I'm sick of being told there's no money for health care, there's no money for infrastructure, there's no money for schools, there's no money for social security, medicare, and on and on....but...there's plenty of money for two wars, tax cuts for the rich and ANYTHING...absolutely ANYTHING that "business" wants!

American's need to wake up and stop worshiping at the altar of "business"! It's become the most sacred, revered word in the English language.

29. Simpson was Cheney's mentor, for God's sake!
Simpson was a legendary troglodyte who never came down on the good side of anything.

For all we knew he was dead, until the president resurrected his sorry ass.

And Obama, being the good priest to the Lords of Money said "yes sirs."

Let them build the crosses to crucify him on.

In my more charitable moments (which are becoming fewer and fewer), I imagine that THAT'S why the President appointed him as co-chair -- a man guaranteed to piss off EVERYBODY -- to totally discredit any recommendations of the Catfood Commission.

Good cop, bad cop, 23rd dimensional chess. Who knows anymore?

25. Interesting that the commission he co-chairs is violating their own
charter and bylaws by not having voted today:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=4635762&mesg_id=4637736

And they aren't called on it or held to it?

But for those who have played by the rules and expect that to be acknowledged and promises to be kept (Social Security, for example) he has nothing but contempt and "tough" words.

Absolutely appalling.

30. Obama placed this damn bastard as co-chair and he could have
removed him. His choice of Simpson was disturbing not because he is a Republican, but one who peddled the LIE like no other Republican and continues to do so.

Krugman and others have debunked the lie yet this is who Obama picked and did not remove. There was NOTHING responsible about
the selection of Simpson.

35. the "greediest generation" was written about in Forbes
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 08:20 PM by TheWebHead
last month:
http://www.forbes.com/2010/11/11/greedy-boomers-social-security-medicare-cuts-personal-finance-kotlikoff.html

it's provocative but when you're running dangerous deficits on top of dangerous debt and most dangerous projected deficits primarily caused by medicare, an entitlement to that generation being referred to, it's something to think about.

Nicholas Kristof also wrote about this in 2005 during the prescription drug benefit debate:

Bullsh**

Are you aware that seniors pay for Soc. Sec. all their life, and then they pay monthly for Medicare? I think it is upt to 112 a month now.

is it so fucking hard to understand that the wealthy in this nation can pay to benefit the common good? is their shit made of gold - are the so fucking precious and special they have no sense of decency?

my head just wants to explode because of this shit I see that is a bipartisan attack ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

The govt. of this nation IS ATTACKING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

I swear this is going to come back on them. hard. and I hope it does because they deserve it after the shit they are asking the American people to eat. What a worthless low down no good waste of oxygen the entire political class is in this nation.

If they all dropped dead tomorrow we'd probably all be better off.
