I was just informed of this about five minutes ago. I always thought debate was about using facts to counter other facts, not just straight up lying. Silly me...
This was told to me by an out and out Freeper when he accused me of helping the enemy by not condemning Edwards' correct evaluation of the phrase "war on terror".
The first post he made charged that Edwards said there was no such thing as terrorists. I replied that I highly doubted this was true and I posted about it earlier today and thanks to DU was able to see what he was referring to.
See Here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=956357&mesg_id=956357Then he said Edwards was helping the terrorists and encouraging people to not take terrorism seriously. This escalated until he said that we SHOULD indeed kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.
So I told him that he was twisting words, hence: Debate is about twisting others' words to suit your goals.
Apologies...I'm tired and angry. This guy is one of my husband's friends and I can't stand him. I feel like I can't talk to my husband about him and I just had to rant.
