What are the wealthy being asked to sacrifice?

We have a whole laundry list for the rest of us:

Social Security
Medicare
No single-payer
Endless war
Pay freezes
Layoffs
Cuts in education
etc...

But what are wealthy being asked to sacrifice?

A new patio for their summer digs in the Hamptons...

A lesser brand of Vodka...

These might be some of the things they would consider a burden...

If they came to fruition.

11. They've been able to afford 6th and 8th vacation homes under Bush and Obama
and with that kind of wealth patios, vodka and tee time are downright middle class. We're talking multi-million dollar private jets, private islands, and six or seven luxury vacation homes PLUS various million dollar yachts. I've known some of them personally and most people here can't conceive of the kind of wealth that they have.

I know some truly wealthy people myself.

What I was pointing out that it would be that insignificant to the truly wealthy, a minor inconvenience to pay a little more in taxes...

17. It would really mean slightly less growth in wealth
their wealth would not significantly diminish, they would just see a slower rate of growth at this point because they are so obscenely rich that they can only get richer. They won't be taxed on what they own already, only future profits.

I know several owners and CEOs of major film studios, the Producers of strings of blockbusters, and I knew the late Roy Disney. All of them are/ were Dems, oddly enough.

38. Is that true though? Are they really sacrificing anything - bonuses are up 5% this year on Wall St.
By AARON LUCCHETTI

Wall Street bonuses are set to rise about 5% this year, fueled by increases to compensation for employees in hedge funds, retail banking and private equity that offset declines for those in stock and bond trading, according to a survey by compensation consultants Johnson Associates Inc.

13. Again, you're thinking too small
upper middle class people have gardeners. The wealthy have parks with dozens of caretakers. I know one multi-millionaire who owns about six luxury homes, her own private jet, and an island. A whole freaking Island right off the Dominican Republic. She goes there to work on her tan. And she ain't a fraction as rich as many out there.

18. The wealthy never sacrifice anything and they never will. What could they possibly
sacrifice anyway, their third yacht? Their second vacation home? Obama needs to make them pay their fair share, which won't even have any effect on their daily lives. These ultra-wealthy people who complain about taxes are just plain old greedy.

They are busy accumulating more wealth. The country that enabled them to get rich and they want to gut it and get the last dollar out of your pocket. Class war is and has been going on for a long time. They, the rich, are winning every battle. I hope they remember they need to win the last battle too, Revolution! That is when the masses rise up. 52. They Pay The Pipers...
We just finished a very long and expensive campaign cycle, the next one has already begun. All over the beltway, Congresscritters are looking at their "warchests" that need to be rebuilt and in a hurry. Most will need $2 million or more to keep their jobs and the sooner they bag the cash the better they'll sleep at night.

The wealthy are the ones writing those checks right now. They're the ones whose phone calls get answered and its their interests that are now being catered to. To the wealthy, writing the checks to the various campaigns is their "sacrifice" as well as an "investment".
