Rove: Palin tour in Iowa 'smart,' but she has to reach outside GOP ranks

GOP strategist Karl Rove doesn't think Sarah Palin's reality show will earn her any points for a presidential run, but said Friday that putting three of her 16 book tour stops in Iowa is "a smart thing to do."

Palin is hitting the road, including in the early presidential state, to promote her new book "America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag."

"It gives her an excuse to be there as something other than a candidate, which is really important," Rove said on Fox News.

"She's got a problem with independents and a problem with Democrats, and over the course of the next year, like all of the Republican candidates, she's got to demonstrate that she has an ability to unify the Republicans and reach outside the Republican ranks," Rove said.

4. I hate to agree with Rove, but...

He is right that she will need to reach outside the republican ranks, of course I don't think she can "unit" the republicans, so if she can't do that it's a big wast of time to "try" and reach outside the republican ranks. All she is going to do is divide the party like you have never seen before. Rove is playing nice right now, but I am willing to bet he has dug up a whole lot of dirt on sister Sarah, and when the time comes he won't be shy about using it all to stop her from taking over "his" party!

I still think it's all about the money for Palin, and doing the book tours while letting everyone think she will run, will definitely get the morons who show up to buy her books, and stroke her ego! Of course if she can find a good way to "funnel" money she might get from donations if she does try and run in the republican primary, into her, or her families bank accounts without getting caught, then she could take on the good old boys and try and win the nomination. I don't think she can, but if she can make millions trying, I don't think she really cares if she wins or not!
