TSA pat downs and global warming have something in common
In both cases, you have a group of qualified experts who say one thing and a group of people motivated by puritanism, conservativism, and other ideologies who object. In my view, it's conservative to oppose high qualified experts unless you can find really strong evidence that they are corrupt and have a motivation. Both the TSA experts and those who believe in global warming seem to have as their primary motivation our health and safety.

3. Obviously they need to make exceptions
... and that's a valid example. I just read about a case of someone with a colostomy bag being humiliated by the experience. If they are going to have patdowns and xrays, they need to have better procedures for those who have physical or mental limitations.

9. Well who is telling them to change these procedures? It's getting MORE invasive, not less
and Obama doesn't seem to be opposed.

2. throw Blackwater into your analogy - their only concern is the security of
those they are paid to protect.

5. Far be it from me to use the slippery slope fallacy, but where are you going to say "ENOUGH!"?
Is there a line at which you believe your fear of a terrorist/hijacker is less important to you than your dignity?

8. You're right - SECURITY EXPERTS generally agree the scanners and pat downs are useless
That they are nothing more than Theater. People who are in love with illusions of safety, authoritarians who need to submit to authority and perverts that like to grope children are enamored with them.
