Is the impending attack on Iran the explanation for the Dems' cave?
Chris Matthews really scared me with his body language just now - he looked like he's seen a ghost. Post - B*sh news conference, his de-brief questions were sober, subdued. He looked almost resigned.

This, after the big DEM INEXPLICABLE CAVE.

Larger, darker forces are at work here. Is it the impending escalation in the ME with the attack on Iran? Pelosi and Reid also looked very UNCOMFORTABLE, NERVOUS yesterday.

We know the ships are headed to the Gulf. The news media and party leaders would have been informed.

Tin foil hat firmly in place.

4. All I know is it has been really strange the roll-over that has been happening
Carter rolled, The Congress rolled.
What does the bu$h regime have that people roll over so quickly and abruptly. Carter shocked me in the manner in which he backed off his previous statements.

It is strange, tin foil or not.

5. The thought crossed my mind also. I was wondering
if they were being held hostage by this admin. Nothing would surprise me. Now after reading about 6 Navy officers being relieved of command lately, I was wondering if they are running up against people who won't do this admins bidding.

My tinfoil hat is firmly in place.

8. I knew it ...we'd give them the money and the war would expand into Iran.
Then what's all this talk about September? He's laying out a reason why August would have heavy casualties! He could start a war when our government is on vacation!

9. if it is, they just gave him the keys to the aircraft carriers
and the credit card to use with his warprofiteering cronies.

The 'august re-enforcement' sounds far too convienient- "We should expect many casualties in the near future..."(paraphrase of * at his confrence today).

We are being led to the slaughter- and led to be slaughterers.

11. You think they learned we're going to attack Iran so had to give the funds to the psycho?
IF that's the case, they should have come to THE PEOPLE to tell US what the hell is going on so we could STOP HIM! What? They're being COMPLICIT in another illegal attack? WHY? Why aren't they trying to stop him??? WTF?

I've come to the conclusion the NSA has a TON of garbage on EVERY member of Congress and the WH is USING IT to further their sick agenda. It has to be something like that. It has to be. Why else would they let him illegally attack another country...AGAIN? There has to be BLACKMAIL going on behind closed doors. Not everyone in Congress can be this evil. There's a reason for it.

15. Try this for a minute: Suppose they want it.
The Dems are not fighting Bush on this. It's time we quit acting surprised and turn the coin around and look on the back. They appear to want it - the war in Iraq. the war in Iran.

Next: Either they want war in Iran or they are just trying to fool Bush into thinking so. What's up?

12. Matthews was on for commentary?
That's sort of unusual for the everyday presser in itself. Matthews has been going off the reservation with the Cons lately, hitting them hard with their "misleading" pot shots and calling them on it. He's been saying for quite some time that he's truly afraid of waking up one morning to learn we've attacked Iran and that things just aren't making sense.

Unfortunately, unless Congress acts asap to de-authorize the IWR, Bush has the authority to attack anywhere on the world map. That authorization gave him the 'power to use force in the Global War on Terror'. All he has to do is claim a threat and voila!

I'm with you that something's up. Nothing else makes sense.

13. If so, nobody seems to have told Conyers, Feingold, or Waxman and Kucinich.
They stilll seem hellbent on making these people accountable, threat of attacking Iran or not. If more people in Congress had some guts and joined them, we might be able to stop this madman in his tracks. It is so frustrating. The very least the Dems could do is to call a news conference as a united group and put it out in the open so Americans knew exactly what Jr. has up his sleeve. Why are we still allowing criminals to dictate the foreign policy that will affect all of our lives adversely.

try this occupation thing for the oil that is nothing but a steady drip drip drip of lives lost. I could leave the party over this if this is all a big push on Iran.

and now their arsenal is bare. They gave everything to bush. Even their blessing on an Iran attack.

Where the hell are they going to get the troops and resources to fight in both Iraq and Iran? I hope that they're not really this crazy, but I fear that they may be. :banghead:

22. It is true that aland war is impossible with Iraq given how thinly stretched

the US troops are, but the US could launch sortie after sortie from the Carrier groups and Iraq.

I, however, don't believe that Iran will sit idly by and be destroyed without replying in kind with what they have. What is more important is that Iran is not Iraq. It has a military and ordinance that they may just love to use against quite a few targets.

21. okay let's connect some critical dots here....
let's start way back after the 2006 election and along with getting US troops a timetable the Democrats promised no Iran attack. Next thing you know they capitulate on the Iran attack and "all options are on the table" regarding Iran. Then the big AIPAC meeting in DC happens with luminaries such as Hillary Clinton and Dick Cheney getting applauded loudly for war mongering for Iran. We do all know the hardliners in Israel like the neocons in the US want an attack on Iran right? Hasn't it puzzled a lot of people that many of the Democrats sound the same on Iran as the neocons?

Coincidentally the very same week our Democrats cave to bush on everything, with major arm twisting from Rahm Emmanuel and Steny Hoyer,(two of the most prominent AIPAC dems in congress, kinda like Soprano hitmen), we have TWO Naval battle groups arrive in Iranian waters. Or damn close enough. At the same time cheney is out war mongering for Iran and accusations are flying that Iran will have a bomb, like TOMORROW!!!!

Can it be any more clear whose foreign policy is number one here? It appears to me this has EVERYTHING to do with Iran and nothing to do with the safety and will of the people of the USA. It gives me pause.

I do not have time at the moment to provide the links but if anyone needs them I will look later.

not Dems. Hillary Clinton and Emanuel and Hoyer as you mention.

In a healthy nation, we could all break up into about 5 or 6 parties.

. True Dems
. Corporation Dems.
. Sincere Republicans
. Religious-Corporate-Baron-War monger Republicans
. Greens
. Other Independent

BUT WE ARE NOT HEALTHY. WE ARE AS SICK AS THEY COME.

At times it seems that all the baron connected politicians and the religious leaders, plus the military brass and the CEO's of the media are all going to board missiles and take off and leave us with a vial of Rumsfeld's Avian Flu remedy and bubonic plague squirrels and the murderous squads who don't know that those who payroll them have taken off. Things here are worse than a combination of the twelve best SciFi novels. It's a dark day.

when it became very apparent many Democrats in congress, and even more now share the same allegiances as the repukes. It is very depressing. You are very right about the solution and also the sickness this country has with no cure. :(
