Won't the GOP "no compromise" position make them look bad to voters?
People voted for change, not gridlock. The arrogant statements of some Republicans about not cooperating at all won't sit well with most of the country.

3. They have said no for the last 2 years and it worked for them
It makes no sense but then many voters have no common sense. So the stupid works for stupid voters and they have done a fabulous job of creating stupid voters.

4. I'm not sure about that -- Americans will probably see it as 'toughness' stopping
the evils of Barack Obama.

5. Yes
But they'll frame it, and their pals in the popular media will move heaven and earth to assist them, as "standing on priniciple," "being strong," "fighting for America," and other such nonsense. The Tea Baggers will love it, the Nitwit Brigade will love it, Corporate America will love it, and that should be sufficient for the Republicans to gull a significant segment of the population into thinking that this continuing transfer of the nation's wealth into the pockets of the overrich is The Best Thing Evah.

7. The pukes have been arrogant for two years
The problem Obama will be remembered for is tolerating that and trying to negotiate with a bunch of asshole bullies. He should have said, "Fuck 'em. I'm taking this country where the people who voted for want me to take it."

11. We're about to find out. The Republicans are doubling down on '95 and hoping
for a different result. I think it's going to backfire, but apparently they think they've got enough media in their pocket to make it work.

12. And they'll win because Democrats will cave like they always do.
Today's Democrats don't know how to "Give'em Hell" like Harry Truman. I'd rather fight and lose than just capitulate without a fight.

17. Most voters don't distinguish between Republicans and Democrats,...
...all they perceive is that "all Congress" is being partisan and not dealing with the nation's problems. When it comes time to vote, they vote against whomever is "in" office. In '06 and '08 it was the Republicans. In '10 it was us.

22. Voters SAY they want both sides to "work together".
They SAY this because it's what they think they're supposed to say...

In reality, the support and admire the party that kicks ass and takes names.

The television still paints them as "responsible," "adult," and "serious" politicians.
