Holy crap! Isaac Yefet just made a critical point
that had not occurred to me before... these scanners are a huge violation of Muslim (and also Jewish Very ORTHODOX) traditions...

Damn it! And it is so damn obvious... and I missed it...

Have I mentioned how much I hate these people?

'nother way to enrage the enemy and make sure them terrorists win!

1. Saw that.
I never gave it a thought, either.

What if a woman is wearing a skirt/dress? They don't feel up her leg underneath, do they???

7. Yes, why some men are recommending Kilts
true style, as in no underwear as a form of protest.

17. Sure they will. And if Grandma's wearing some bulky Depends, I'm guessing
they'll want to grope underneath 'em. Things are about to get a lot uglier.

2. CAIR issued a travel advisory...
...with special recommendations for Muslim women wearing hijab:

CAIR Travel Advisory: New Airport Pat-Downs Called Invasive, Humiliating

6. I fear they get it

4. The pat downs and scans are intrusive, period. Fuck the religious bullshit
Religious exemptions shouldn't even be considered imho. "Winning hearts and minds" is a motto that has long been laid to rest. Frankly, these are human rights issues, nothing more, nothing less.

5. Agreed, but think of who is targeted by shit like this
in particular.

It should stop, period... and the only way you do something like this is... PROBABLE CAUSE... which they don't have from me buying a ticket.

11. EVERYONE is targeted by shit like this. Religious whackos wanting an exemption
because they believe their sky daddy is somehow gonna frown on them, don't get any pass from me.

CAIR's concerns about "Muslims" only, or your concerns about other "orthodoxies", instead of being rightly concerned about EVERYONE'S civil rights is just more divisive bullshit imho.

We are (were/used to be?!) a secular nation but somehow the pandering to religiosity has warped our sense of who "really" has the right to be outraged. We all should be outraged, and the Muslims and Jews of our nation should be outraged for all of us, not just themselves because they believe their mythological gawd will be mad at them cuz they stepped through a scanner, or they were asked to spread their legs for a pat down.

As far as I can tell, no particular religion is getting special attention (despite the religious whackos protestations). EVERYONE is subject to this. I have been, my 13 year old daughter, my friends and family and on and on. I resent the religious trying to leverage this as some kind of "special" targeting. It's bigger than them and they need to get over themselves and think about others (for a change).

13. You telling me that the former head of El Al is muslim
he was the one who brought this on the national TV. I am sure it will come as a shock to him.

He mentioned why all this THEATER is just that. THEATER... get it through your head it is NOT effective.

But you think the people who DESIGNED this policy were not thinking of the mythical war of civilizations and how to rile Muslims? Are you that NAIVE?

18. Wow! Might want to refresh your understanding of "human rights"
Freedom of Religion is one of them.

http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/

Article 18.

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

If I had written something like you posted, I'd feel like a hateful, ignorant bigot about now.

Respecting people and their differences will never be "laid to rest".

12. Yep, and they might pressure the Feds to drop this
due to that bottom line.

Now if they tried more real security and less theater, or as hubby likes to call the... mommy devices!

14. The last time the airlines lost money because of fear of terra
the taxpayers ended up bailing them out. This doesn't have a good end for any of us, flying public or not.

Stop the hysteria.

15. Chertoff the Vampire is sucking the blood of
innocents. His (Chertoff's) machines (and the machines of the Death Machine of George Bush and Dick Cheney) are burrowed deep within the bowels of our government and are still driving the war machine and all of humanity off a cliff into an abyss.
