As we watch the last vestiges of The New Deal fade from view . . . . .
. . . . we need to be ready to survive on our own. One for oneself. The word "we" is becoming quaint.

Who will sing the Requiem?

1. There won't even be that.
America's future is going to be a bitter, unhappy, divided, violent time. It's sad, and it doesn't have to be that way. But its going to be.

My only hope is that not too much of our collective souls are lost in the bad times to come.

4. It never before appeared so close to reality . . . and under a Democrat.
But as far as tripe is concerned, I like it. A nice Marinara Sauce with some tripe in it is great.

5. I don't believe it is just a perception on Social Security
I've watched every savings plan I hoped would be my retirement devolve into about 2/3 of what I hoped to need along with Social Security in order to finish out my last 20 years without having to work or at least drop back to a part time job to buy the occassional dinner out, a newer car, maybe be able to actually have the car I presently own worked on in a timely manner by an actual mechanic. But it appears that I'll be working or attempting to until I fall over dead.

In the meantime, I've seen my homeowners insurance premium increase 25% a year, my property taxes go up about 3%, my medical insurance increase about 42%, and every other thing under the sun increase in cost without the corresponding increase in income.

So as the economy whittles away at my savings, investments and home value, I feel used.

Social Security was not going to be my main source of retirement income, but it was going to be a part of it.

BTW, I'm 59.

6. The scope of what Stinky is referring to is more than just social security.
It's everything that has been privatized for the past 40 years. Health care, education, the penal system, our parks & land, & thanks to electronic voting & Citizens United, our government's on the block, too. Social security is the last golden goose to steal.

7. Some people PLAN AHEAD
get totally wiped out anyway by unforeseen circumstances and only have SS to depend on. Glad you're all taken care of though, I'll scratch you off my list of things to worry about.
