After a certain age, IMO, it just looks better either styled upward or shorter, to take the emphasis off a neck and jowl that is starting to show signs of wear. She looks like she's trying too hard to look "younger than her stated age," like an old actress trying to play an ingenue.

In actual fact, she's just genetically predisposed to wrinkle early, I guess--she looks, to me, like someone in her early to mid forties who hasn't kept pace with the fashions of the day, and is sticking with an old, too-youthful hairdo.

I'm not saying she should look like Audry Hepburn, just not like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm with wrinkles--that's just too much hair hanging out there, IMO--all she needs is a frilly dress and a big ribbon.

She'd look younger if her hair were Elizabeth Edwards or Teresa Heinz Kerry length, maybe, which isn't all that short. All that hair, pulled forward over her shoulders in Coulteresque fashion, just makes her look haggard, IMO...
