On Tuesday, MSNBC unveiled a new, two-year marketing campaign centered around the slogan "Lean Forward." The campaign was described in an article in the New York Times as solidifying MSNBC's progressive identity. In an interview with the Huffington Post, MSNBC President Phil Griffin said he agrees with the Times' assertion — depending on what your definition of "progressive" is.

If "progressive" means "we always want to do things bigger and better, to change, to be all things that we could be? Absolutely ," Griffin said. He stressed, however, that MSNBC's form of progressivism was not necessarily left-leaning.

"Honestly, I think we're bigger than that," he said. "I think there's a bigger sensibility. I think what we do is we look at all ideas. The whole idea is don't be afraid of change. The course of our history has always been to evolve and to make things better, and I think that's our focus."

1. Yeah, "lean forward." Does anyone else get the OBVIOUS dirty implication?
Lean forward? No thanks. I won't follow that advice if I hear it in a shower room and I won't follow it here either. Same thing will happen either way.

3. Anybody see CNN's dig at the slogan on election night?
They ran a short thing during a commercial break -- all I caught was 'partisan agenda' or something like that. I wanted to see it again but didn't as I was flipping all over the place throughout the night.
