I appreciate a good boycott as much as the next person but boycotting MSNBC is not the answer
Remember this is the channel that has FOUR progressive hosts (well now 3) in their primetime/evening lineup.

You boycott MSNBC it will hurt the other 3 that still have shows like Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell and Ed Schultz. Those 3 have fought just as hard as Keith and do not deserve to be hurt because of the boycott.

Instead let's pressure them the other way - let's hit them with a barrage of phone calls & emails. Let's overwhelm them with our support of Keith & his show.

And do not compare his donating to candidates with hosts on other TV channels. If Faux or CNN did not right it into the contracts of their on-air personalities then you are comparing oranges with apples here.

3. God I feel sorry for the other 3 ...
Obviously Ed, Rachel and Lawrence WON'T be able
to address this at all in their shows. It's going
to feel downright ZOMBIE to watch them "go about
their business" while a 10K-pound gorilla sits
right behind them ...

9. I have to agree but ask yourself this - WWKD?
What would Keith Do?

Would he want to hurt 3 other people who have tried hard to succeed in counterbalancing Faux News?

And from what I read, he signed a contract and he made the choice knowing that it would violate the contract.

Hopefully if we keep emailing and phoning MSNBC persistantly we can make it like a month suspension.

16. Make no mistake, I'll be watching the other 3 ...
It'll just feel really creepy because Big Brother
is now watching them too I'm afraid. Will be
interesting to see how they conduct their shows
(maybe "in code"!).

Perhaps we should do it all.

11. That could be an idea. I just don't want to hurt the other 3 shows
I mean if MSNBC dumps Rachel, Ed and Lawrence what's left?

10. Boycott the 8PM hour
That will hit just that timeslots ratings & prove something to Griffin.

Griffin also has to answer to advertisers who bought time in that slot. MSNBC could end up having to rebate money to the ad buyers if the ratings don't measure up to the promise of ratings in that timeslot.

14. Oh, let them have their fun.
They won't do any harm, they'll feel better, and it will keep them off the streets.

It's like a gnat suddenly deciding to get revenge on a car. It can dive bomb with all the anger and ferocity it feels in its little gnat soul, and the last triumphant, defiant thought will be one of transcendent relevance. The car won't even notice it, but that's hardly important.

17. They will go if they violate their contracts that they signed
I'm not tossing Keith out to the wolves but he did sign that contract and he did not follow thru with it.

Hopefully we can get this reduced to a suspension.

20. MSNBC needs all 4 for the ratings, especially Keith. Coundown = Ratings = $$$$. also they just
blew a big chunk of change on the "Lean Forward" branding. I can't see them firing Keith or getting out of the progressive market.

But yeah, boycott countdown for the time being and let them know about it.

For those of you who have never watched the movie "PCU"

"These, Tom, are the Causeheads. They find a world-threatening issue and stick with it for about a week"

not the network. I may change my mind if they fire Keith.

I don't want to lose the other 3. It's all we got out there in the news world (other than Comedy Channel)

26. All I can say is, I hope John Stewart isn't dictating who gets to appear on Cable TV
again. We know Fox will not make changes, but MSNBC and CNN seem to think he's a god.

25. You make a good point
But one thing I would like to point out is that most contracts are covered under privacy standards, because it's a personnel issue.

So, we do not know whether this clause was in KO's contract or if Griffin is just using his position to silence Keith.
