Doris Kearns Goodwin
tonight on the Colbert Report...

good discussion on how Harry Truman turned into "Give'em Hell Harry" after the electoral loss, and how Obama might want to go the same route.

1. She's always worth a listen and was good tonight.
But... did she have 'some work' done on her face?

2. I think so...
...or maybe she is using some sort of exotic cream or something.

5. Oh, come ON... this person is the preeminent historian of American
politics - hands down - and whether or not she has done something to her appearance or not is a lousy thing if its your primary interest in her presentation.

Give me a flipping break... this woman is genius - her musings on politics are far more interesting than what she does personally. She's a public figure, so it's not unsurprising. What is surprising is the fullness of her wonderful intellect.

Okay, restart.

6. She's a bit of a court historian
. . . but she's not as bad as David McCullough or Michael Beschloss. As popular historians go, I like Douglas Brinkley a bit more than Doris.

7. do you comment on his looks, then? Aye, there's the rub...

8. Au contraire, mon ami(e)
I think Michael Beschloss is a hunky-wonk, and I could listen to David McCullough's voice forever...Brinkley, not so sure. Don't go for the bow ties so much.

4. Obama is going to go the Clinton triangulation route.
He's already blathering that he wants to compromise with the Republicans.
