Constructive Criticism: What Obama should have just said at press conference
Question at news conference just now:

Republicans say hell will freeze over before they allow anything like a new stimulus package. What do you say about that?

Optimal Obama sez:

If that is true then the Republicans are dooming this nation to stagnant growth and endless high unemployment. Period. That is straight up economic fact and I am not going to sugar-coat it.

Real Obama said:

I take the debt really seriously... bipartisan... small changes...

1. I imagine he can't say
exactly what is on his mind...

the reporters right now are pretty ruthless with questions...

4. The question about how did he feel after last night was idiotic.
Akin to the reporters sticking a camera & mike in the face of a person watching their house burn down and asking them how they feel.

14. Reporters
Are like sharks, always looking for blood in the water. That question is asked every time a President loses ground in the midterms.

13. I agree...I'm starting to think he was fed that Chicago school crap
and really thinks it'll eventually work...the populist stuff he mentions from time to time is kind of like scraps to us dogs so we don't get too hungry.

8. "he can't say exactly what is on his mind... " - Unfortunately, I think
this may end up dooming his Presidency.

2. DC is full of crap
Nobody outside the fringe 20% are worried about the debt.

They're worried that the economy will stagnate, or even get worse.

You cant worry about spending when spending is the only thing improving the economy.

If Obama goes after compromise to lower the deficit before the economy has rebounded he will send us right back into an even deeper recession.

7. What he says in the "morning after" presser and what he says/does behind closed doors are....
...two different things.

This presser is part of the "dance" he must dance.

It means nothing.

Wait a few weeks, and watch what he does.
