Jon Stewart...you are wrong more than you are right...
The repukes have called us traitors, appeasers, and terrorist sympathizers. They've had a field day equating us with the worst of the worst and accusing us of hating America at every criticism. They've been on a crusade to tear down the working class and to take apart the government until it is as weak as toilet paper. They've played as hard and as below the belt as possible.

The Dems overall have tried being nice and being gracious. They've reached across the aisle more times than I can count. Despite every slap in the face by the repukes and RW nutjobs, the Dems kept being nice.

Well, then it was time to quit being nice. The Dems began fighting back in both words and in elections. No more was the Dems just going to take it lying down and being rugs. If the repukes wanted a fight, they were going to get one.

The best way to go about beating the repukes was to do on their own territory. They had a lot of corporate power behind them and it was a hell of a fight. It took a while, but we finally began beating the RW nutjobs and other repukes at their own game.

That is until we got a black president.

Then it came out full force in ways that I don't think anyone ever expected. The outright racism was so blatant and now it's almost become an acceptable part of American discourse much to our shock. So, now we have to find new ways to fight against this king of outrageous rhetoric.

So, Jon Stewart...I love you man, but you're right...and you are very wrong, too. You are more wrong than you are right.

1. I agree
I was a little baffled by the love-fest with his speech. Obama has been beat to hell for any talk of compromise, Stewart called his attempts at compromise "timid", and then he goes to DC and bashes everybody for... not compromising.

And not calling the teabaggers racists?? Why the hell not? Does he not see who is in the Democratic Party and who is in the Republican Party and connect the reason WHY.

I don't know what he was thinking when he wrote that speech, but I thought a whole lot of it sucked.

2. We need to keep the eye on the target, the reason for most of the problems, the Republicans
and the class and race war they are raging.

Nice won't combat their money or power grabs.

of the microphones.

6. Two different sets of "folks"
I would guess people who support Obama were pissed over the "dude" comment, although I think that's a silly complaint.

The folks who are lapping up every word Stewart said on Sat are the ones who have been railing against Obama for compromising. It's crazy.

12. Quoting the thread you linked
Now does "one side" deal with facts and the other does not"t? Yes.

Does one side call for physical violence and the other does not? Yes

The 2 sides were not distinguished and that's what I had a problem with.

Democrats/ liberals/progressives acted 'sane" for the most part and look where it got us?

How sane should we be when there are millions of dollars of outside money pouring in to buy an election?

We could stay calm and focus on issues but would they? Hell NO!

I don't think we have been loud enough. IMO

that was not what he was talking about.

Re-watch his speech. Perhaps read it.

I enjoyed the smack-down though

got the message... you can tell by the reaction.

It was a smack-down. Re-read the speech. They got it. It was personal for a reason.

32. Chance of the corporate media...
Truth be told nobody is serving as a fourth estate for many reasons. We need a strong ALTERNATE media... We are relying on the paper of record...and Cronkite don't exist any more.

8. Bullshit. All of the cable news channels indulge in bad behavior - some are worse, of course, and
he showed that. But to pretend that "liberal" media is immune to this is myopic and frankly wrong.

Conservatives do a lot more lying, but they all do damage.

27. It's pretty obvious
that no one is going to take it down a notch.

The Teabaggers haven't taken over anything. They may win a few races but they will be not be able to turn this country into some tax free fundy libertarian paradise. It ain't gonna happen. Think the liberals were disappointed with Obama? Just watch and see how disappointed the Tea Partiers will be when Rand Paul and Sharron Angle can't turn America into their vision of what they want it to look like.

It doesn't matter who's yelling louder. When the dialogue is yelling, stupidity will always wins.
