Father Guido Sarducci benediction prayer - Rally for Restoring Sanity And/Or Fear
I always get a kick from Father Guido. Here are a few excerpts from the Benediction Prayer

"...as long as I have your attention God, if I could ask you something - one question we would like to know. You know on Earth we have many different religions, different beliefs and everybody thinks that they're the right one. So if you could give us some sign what is the right religion. You know a rainbow, some swans could fly in whatever, you know use your imagination, I'm ya know telling you...what. But what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go over the religions, the names of them, and when I come to the when that says yes thats the right one, then do it, ya know, if you like, please.

Ok... Methodist

(some cheers from the crowd)

Ya know I don't think cheering is, is the sign ya know, and uh... I know you might be Methodist and try to influence God. But I don't think lobbying, I know this is Washington, but still I don't think so.

Episcopalian..............nope

Baptist...................nope

(skipping ahead)

"Buddhism.... maybe nothing is the sign for Buddhism"

(closing)

"Well God, I don't know your schedule, but, uh, I imagine you must be pretty busy, you got the whole world in your hand and all that stuff. But before I go, I just wanna say God, eh, on behalf of all of us, thank you for making the universe. And thank you for giving us all the good things, like trees, and animals ... dogs, especially thank you for dogs. And thank you for all of the good things that we do in your name, like charity and eh forgiveness, thats an idea we would never come up with thats for sure you know that better than anybody, so on behalf of all of us thank you very much, and we really mean it Amen.

4. And the republicans and tea bags who hate everybody but
those like them, and try to promote violence against every one but them, call themselves Christians and love to tell the country they talk to God.

10. I posted earlier today about the "Find the Pope in the Pizza" bit.
Love the guy, and like you, a fan ever since the Smothers Brothers days.

Too bad Tommy and Dick weren't there today -- that would have been a hoot!

14. All this talk of Father GS and the S. Bros. made me think of Pat Paulsen -

googled him - sadly he died in 1997.
There's a great list of quotes by him on Wikipedia, starting with "All the problems we face in the United States today can be traced to an unenlightened immigration policy on the part of the American Indian."

9. I loved the bit where he said, about Jews and Muslims
"they both don't eat the same meat" "So they should say 'hey, you don't eat pork and we don't eat pork. Let's build on that."

He's been cracking me up for years, too.
