Christine O'Donnell has made herself fair game with the "sex" story
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 09:46 PM by Renew Deal
The story is sleazy. There's no question about it. Her grooming is completely irrelevant. But the story is completely relevant to the campaign. She is an anti-masturbation homophobe who feels the need to tell people how to live their lives. She tells people who it's appropriate to love. She said "People are created in God's image. Homosexuality is an identity adopted through societal factors. It's an identity disorder."

If telling the world that homosexuality is an identity disorder is acceptable, then pointing out her loose morals is also relevant.

This reminds me of the 2004 campaign when republicans brought up slanderous stories about Kerry's service record. Remember why they said it was acceptable? Because he took pride in his service. Well guess what? This is fair game too.

1. I'm a hypocrite
I love the sleazieness of it because she's a TeaBagger douch bag who has begged for it.

Now, if it were a Dem I'd be pissed off.

More Sleaze on the Pukes, please.

2. Kind of like when Larry Flynt offered $100,000 for dirt on high
profile Republicans. They asked him about the same deal on Democrats and he said, "not interested". I love that guy. Never really liked his magazine. I was more of a Playboy/Penthouse guy.

5. NOW wants her to get a free pass just because she's a woman
If she's a hypocrite and is essentially misleading the voters she should be called on it. It doesn't matter whether its woman or a man, both should be treated the same.

8. The issues pale compared to the absurdity that
this box of rocks is even a candidate for the Senate. Plus, it not one that really needs focus as much as Nevada and Arizona. C O'D is polling at something like 39%. Threat is neutralized.

So we had a little fun with this one. In view of all the horrendous news the last 6 months. Remember, the Gulf, Haiti and a slew of other, I speak for myself - I completely batshit crazy. Bear with us. :toast:

9. "the little fun" extends to calling Palin a slut for wearing red shoes and flirting...
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 11:44 PM by bettyellen
Im sorry but that was fucked up too. the men here make excuses and point to male politicans who were busted with prostitutes, or in diapers, or cheating on their wives (not that I give a crap either) on mutiple occasions. men actually have to do very screwed up or illegal things to cause a stir like this. women do not.

for a woman, all it takes it to act flirty, once and they are humiliated for it.

it;s not "a little fun". it;s a very fucked up situation for women. and it;s at the office too, it;s in the high schools. you should hope for a better world for your daughters, and start with yourself.

There are only so many things I can do at one time. Right now I'm not in such a great place so I'll have to work on that in a little bit.

I understand all you said and meant about women since I've been one for 61 years and have a 20 year old granddaughter.

just to "get along" you know. but seeing it here really pisses me off. here i have to say something, because it is harmful, and there are a lot of women, especially the women who are hurt the most by it, who cannnot say anything. and men rarely notice or think twice about it.
so thanks for hearing me out.

17. to be serious one last bit, there are just enough scary angry "bitch deserved it" guys out there
Edited on Sat Oct-30-10 12:12 AM by bettyellen
a few in every bar very often one in a group of other wise nice guys, and they egg this kind of shit on. finding reasons to be looking down on women. sometimes it gets scary, even for a fearless gal like myself. it;s a slipperly slope, and we get the treatment for being an aloof bitch, we get it for making out with the wrng guy. we picked the wrong guy, and because of that, we might as well fuck anybody because now we;re a dirty whore. i literally have heard men rationalize raping women who were passed out or who had sex with the wrong guy because they put themselves in that position. it happens frequently, and not just at frat parties, the rationalizations (and a few of the perps) are here too. it;s a slippery slope, and a horrible way to treat young girls. and somehow, if men did things like that, flirting or being a little trampy... no one would attack them, they would at most, be amused. you guys don't know what i fine line you've made for us to walk. and it kind of revererates when i see it spill over against women who republican or dems are in this political arena. they have all this success, but have still not escaped this treatment. it feels hopeless, you know?

okay, im done now, tks for listening.

and that was Diane Keaton, thanks, hugs back to you!

20. I know - I was a single Mom for 12 years
Edited on Sat Oct-30-10 12:36 AM by madmax
Worked my ass off, bought a 1/2 dubplex fixer upper. Did a most of the work myself. Had my share of jackass boyfriends, but wouldn't ever let one live with me. You want to get laid, pay for the room. I have a child and that shit isn't happening in my house. Then the ones that took me out to dinner and expected to wring it out of me at the end of the night.

One day by accident, litterally - I met Prince Charming. I back ended him. I thought he had died and they shot the horse.

We've been married 27 years and he treats my son like his own. We didn't have any together. He said, he never really wanted kids and didn't feel the need to reproduce himself. He said, I've got Joey. My husband is 6 years younger than I am and was never married before me nor had any children somewhere. My son was 12 and he was 27. They're more like brothers! Ok, sue me I'm a cradle snatcher. ;)

Yes, I think I'm very lucky but, it was a long hard slog on my own. I never expected to get married again, I just went on like a bull with his head down and plowed the road. (No wise ass comments from any guys reading this) I know how my sisters have to deal with a lot of shit.

12. What you don't get is that her wing of the GOP has MADE people's sex lives an "issue".
She wants to outlaw masturbation, claims to be abstinent, and shills for the people who want to throw women in jail for using birth control.

That makes her sex life, such as it is, fair game.

you perhaps, just maybe if she actually had sex, but that didn't happen. as I said, she flirted. and that was enough.
yet lots of people skipped passed the headlines and believe she did now. hey if you want to act like this is freshman year your whole life long, knock yourself out. but don;t kid yourself that there;s any justification for it. or that men would be roasted over the coals for flirting. It never happens.

warren, do you think there are many women here who are not alrady familiar with the RW puritanical bullshit and their double standards?
seriously, LOLz explaining that to me was so....cute of you.

25. Honestly, I don't care if it bugs you, and I don't care if she "really had sex" or not.
Her puritanical bullshit IS the issue, and every time she's in the news, it reminds people how the GOP has been hijacked by a gang of crazy theocratic godbags.

Men get 'roasted over the coals' for all kinds of sexual shit; it happens all the time.

Is she "allowed to flirt"? Honestly, I don't give a fuck, except again she has based her entire career on using government to tell people not to fuck. Not just not to fuck, but not to masturbate, not really to do anything. So it's an issue, it's fair game, and as much as you may wish to make this about something other than her utter, complete, unsuitableness for the United States Senate, that's what it's about, and until she goes away (or reverses her backwards-ass positions on social issues), this sort of thing isn't.

Not being snarky just so stunned. I told a puke supporter that I started to pay attention over the bullshit they put Clinton through over a bj. I told him I don't care! He's Hillary's problem, if he were my husband I'd castrate him. Clinton was doing a good job for the country - ok he did some shit like DADT and NAFTA, not good.

I'd take him again over the shrub pos.

because she's. a woman. anyway, I I agree with you, that they don;t understand NOWs position on this at all. But I don;t think they are intending to say NOW is giving the writer a pass.
It's been all over the news that the have condemned the story as misogynist. men here are comparing a little bit of drinking and snogging to hiring prostitutes, or having extra marital affairs exposed to this- which was, it sounds pretty tame to me. an unmarried person flirts and makes out with someone, crashes at their apartment. since when do we want to go there?

27. I also have to agree
The fact that she's made herself a symbol of chaste pre-marriage behavior and is engaging in the exact sort of behavior she's condemned publically . . . that's hypocrisy. Unfortunately one outgrowth of the very important feminist movement has been that the Right-wing hides behind its achievements to keep from having to live up to its own standards. We can't let them get away with that.

... can't really see hypocrisy in what she's said and what she was alleged to have done in this instance. She didn't have sex, she didn't masturbate, and it was a guy that she didn't have sex with.

But just to clarify... are you saying that the slanderous anti-Kerry stories *were* fair game because he took pride in his service? Or are you just using their definition of "fair" to justify your own unfairness? Bad behavior on another's part does not justify bad behavior on mine.
