To those who belittle my fellow doom and gloomers
We have good cause to be worried.
In 2000, when GWB was appointed President, many of us on the left said how truly bad it could be.
We were told we were being overly pessimistic and it he couldn't do that much damage.
Besides as a Republican, he would probably be good for the economy.
This is what we were told.
How did that all turn out?
I think we are right to be worried, and the new crop of GOP loonies who are going to run this country
should give us all grave concern.

1. Agreed.
What's coming is going to make the Bush reign look like a walk in the park before it's over.

2. I don't know who told you that, but.......
...I sure don't remember anything like that being said here. ALWAYS be worried if a republican is elected....anywhere....anypalce....anytime! Okay..........you've been told.

Well, now we know.

4. Well we certainly learned that "he can't do that much damage" isn't true any
longer (if it ever was). I'm not sure people realized how truly despicable his cadre was. They changed the world, and pretty much destroyed America.

I feel much better with Obama at the helm. We're turning around. It's painful, but we are. Hang in there! :pals:

5. I was one of those back in pre-election 2000 saying we'd be digging out from
a Bush presidency for decades.

In hindsight, that seems fairly optimistic to me now. :evilfrown:

But I had friends poo-poo my pessimism. After Bush stole the election, one of them (a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat) even accused me of being just like the Republicans who hated Clinton.

She's since changed her mind. Too bad it took two disastrous Bush terms to turn her around, though.

6. A person might think that after a group of people that have warned
us about what will happen are proven right time and again, they might get some credit for knowing what they're talking about, wouldn't they?

There is a very little satisfaction in being able to say "we told you so" so often.

14. We never seem to earn the respect.
In my view, a lot of this is because we, as a society (and that includes liberals and progressives) have become so besotted by "positive thinking" that we have lost all perspective.

To our own detriment.

But I give up trying to fight it anymore.

I'll just watch the lemming show.

7. I would say we are REALISTS, not gloomers and doomers.
There is good reason to be svery concerned.

Let us not get in a "funk", instead we have every reason
tells us we must reorganize and work with every group of
Democrats including the State Parties to get this Party
back on its feet, standing for something. Grow the Party.

WHEN ALL VOTES ARE COUNTED, only 40% of all Americans
will have voted. There are SIXTY PERCENT we must convert
between now and next election.

We cannot depend on the Party Apparatus in Place now.

13. Yeah, well he'd better change his tactics really fast....
...or the Republicans will DEVOUR him as they've promised they will do. No more "reaching out" and asking these fuckwads to work with him. He would be best consulting with Bill Clinton--extensively--on how to move forward. If anybody knows how to comeback after a midterm election disaster, it's the Comeback Kid.

17. I expect impeachment
hearings before the end of 2011.
And the Dems will say
"But we didn't go after Bush, you're not playing fair!"
And the Repukes will laugh and destroy this country.

9. well
It is a problem.

Thing is we survived.

We could have survived better, but what happened is that too many, in their reaction, have turned to supporting the wolves in sheep's clothing: Crist.

Rubio is not running for president, and he may never. I bet he goes down in flames. Crist, imo, would be worse because he has already conned so many he could rise to the top. As it is, Crist will be history and we can mount a full court attack on Rubio, mainly because he will unify his opposition, meaning all of us.

Crist would have kept us divided.

The 'doomers', here and now, unlike the comparisons to the bush selection history, are not helping by making it seem like we are doomed if one more punk gets elected. And what are some of those 'doomers' also doing? Attacking Obama.

12. Bush had a Republican Congress
No matter what happens this Tuesday, we CANNOT allow the Republicans to control both the House & Senate AND the White House again. This is why I'm hoping we will be able to hang onto the Senate this year, and then....starting this Wednesday, the fight for Barack Obama's re-election in 2012 begins! We absolutely MUST win that fight.
