Some things I expect from talkers on tds interview...
Edited on Thu Oct-28-10 12:07 PM by nadinbrzezinski
He was too stiff... Of course he was too stiff while seating down... He's not just wearing a T-shirt under that shirt... Trust me them ARE stiff.

You don't call the POTUS dude... Oh come on it was funny...

But will talking heads deal with substance? Nah.

By the way it is back awkward when a comedian does hard hitting interviews and the nooz does softball, or whiffle ball.

1. I thought it was a good interview.
It's greatest charm was that there was a sense of informality. And, of course, he used Dude. It was funny, and it was right on. That phrasing pointed out perfectly the heckofajob statement. Saying people did an heckofajob when the perception is the opposite doesn't work, even with an audience as positive as the TDS audience.

2. Well we know the pres... Has a sense of humor
And it was a great interview...but today we had the dude as if it was such a bad thing...even if this was technically a breach of protocol.

3. This was the Daily Show. They are not big on protocol...
and we should not expect them to be.

Obama did not seem put out by the "Dude."

6. "Dude" didn't bother me at all, and it didn't seem to bother the President, either.
Imagine how W would have reacted.

Is this crossing the line?

Contessa Brewer...

I once shared a meal of beans and tortillas with a former president... I guess I also crossed line...

10. As other DUers have said: jealousy. Someone having an honest give-and-take
with the President can say "dude" spontaneously; if a "gotcha" type journalist did it, it would probably be scripted and sound that way.

8. What most of their commentary will boil down to: Jealousy
Believe it or not, as chummy as these talking chuckleheads are with their sources, there is a lot of competition between the people in the "news" business. Jon Stewart got a sit-down interview with the President in the week before the mid-term election. Stewart bills himself as a fake newsman, but this is a "get" that Brian or Katie or Diane or anyone on the cable shows would run over a close parental relative at a generation's remove or give up some part of a paired bodily organ to have.

9. And many you listed would have done a "gotcha" interview.
Jon Stewart is the one of the most honest interviewers out there on a very short list. Except for Rachel Maddow, there's no one else who would have done him justice, and she doesn't have his audience.

The green-eyed monster rears its ugly head.

11. The one thing I didn't get
is the dude comment. Not the dude part, but the entire thing. What was he talking about?
