“Some people say I’m extreme, but they said the John Birch Society was extreme too."
Spoken by Kelly Khuri, founder of the Clark County Tea Party Patriots.

and a bit of trivia:

Fred Koch, father of the Koch brothers who are major funders of the Tea Party, was one of the founders of the John Birch Society in 1958.

15. Anyone remember "The Christopher Mott Society"?
From the Norman Lear movie "Cold Turkey" which was a send-up of big tobacco -- there was a small group of fanatical "patriots" who were Birchers, thinly disguised as the "Christopher Mott Society." Lear had a lot of fun with their jingoistic paranoia and authoritarian "love of freedom."

Great movie, now out on DVD (sort of) after all these years: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003B3O5GS/

4. if jb society is not extreme
what is. what unnerves me about all the press these extremists are getting is that extremism could become mainstream (if it hasn't already, you wouldn't know it by watching/listening msm).
