self-sufficient life style by chaining us to jobs to pay for the various private and publicly provided necessities - food, shelter, water, etc. - wouldn't wealth redistribution programs be the price modern society pays for taking away humanity's self sufficient living model?

By self sufficient I of course mean when individual families were able to feed themselves, shelter themselves, etc.

And shouldn't we be using technology like solar, wind, food cloning, robotics, and various green technologies to return to a modern version of the self sufficient living model?

It seems to me the biggest conflict of the modern world comes from people being at the mercy of working for others to survive.

What if we eliminated that conflict by eliminating the necessity of working for someone else?

Anyone get where I'm trying to go with this?
