17 year-old male shot for wearing baggy pants...
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Anger over a Memphis teenager's sagging pants ended with gunfire, a bullet in the buttocks and an aggravated assault charge.

Police Sgt. Ron Perry says 45-year-old Kenneth E. Bonds saw two male teens walking along a street and yelled at them to pull up their pants.

Perry says they refused, the three began arguing and Bonds pulled out a pistol.

The first shot missed, but as the teens ran away several more rounds were fired and a 17-year-old was struck in the buttocks. He went to a hospital in non-critical condition.

The Saggy pants fashion is sickening
yet to shoot at someone over this issue is just too much. The police officer should face an investigation.

Edit: it was not the police officer. my bad :D

21. What police officer?
Weird--you're the second one here to derive the impression that it was a cop that did this. I guess it's the wording, but the only officer mentioned is simply relating the story.

I guess After seeing so many DU articles about Policemen tasering people recently...I kinda assumed that it was the police officer who did it.

The wording didn't help either...cos when I saw the "Police Sgt. Ron Perry says" I was like "ah...another one of those stories".
I should have read the entire sentence without jumping to conclusions :(

10. Is that on Bravo, or A&E?
Now that I think about it, Project Runway would be a much better show if Tim and Heidi had guns. Actually, pretty much all reality shows could be improved with heavy-duty weaponry...

8. I had the misfortune of standing in line behind a young man with
his pants down so low that his butt was hanging out. He was wearing very thin underwear and you could basically see his ass. It was super gross. I actually felt a little sick. But of course the guy who shot at those teenagers is clearly off his rocker and needs to be put away; he is a danger to everyone.

34. Of course. That's why I said he should be put away because he is dangerous. It's
still gross to have to stand behind a teenager with his ass hanging out over his pants. I wonder how they keep them from falling all the way down.

Late at night, need to sleep, too many fire threads.

Still, police or not, it is abhorrent behavior to shoot somebody over clothing.

41. I had a good laugh at your post...
:P especially the wry humor of the "collapsing empires" statement. I think our society is decompensating. Nevertheless, if we can't laugh, what's left?

On a more serious note, I've actually read news articles where a person fleeing the police was captured because he tripped on his own pants and fell down.

39. I suppose everyone here is afraid to raise the issue of what happens
when you're really pissed about something and you can reach out and curl your fingers around a gun.

No, I'm not an anti-gun person, but I do think that it needs to be acknowledged that we all get angry, sometimes over the most inconsequential things. Usually the moment passes, but the availability of a deadly weapon changes everything.

Now Mr. Bonds is facing a felony charge over a minor disagreement. Oh, and I agree that teenagers walking around with their pants falling down isn't a pleasant sight, especially since that fad has its roots in the prison culture. Or so I've read.

Man, that's a 'joke fantasy', like exploding the car next to you when it cuts you off. Things you say as a joke but of course would never consider ACTUALLY doing.
The baggy pants irritate the hell out of me, much like the guy that cuts you off in traffic. But you just pull away - you don't pull a gun.
I wish when people break like that they would shoot a Westboro Church member in the butt. You know, something that REALLY irritates you and might actually deserve a butt shot.
