Bravo Harry Belafonte!
Not only do I love him as a performer and as a man, but damn.....I LOVED his speech today. Best of the day so far IMO. He tied everything together and hit all of the critical points. I'm guessing it'll be available on video in all kinds of places for those who missed it.

5. many years ago, in college, I had the pleasure of meeting . . .
the woman who actually wrote the best selling version of the Fanny Farmer Cookbook (can't recall her name right now) . . . it was a reception at the Dean's residence, and she was quite elderly and holding court in one corner of the room . . .

at one point in the conversation, she said "The great thing about getting old is you can say whatever the hell you damn well please and not give a good god damn what anyone else thinks!" . . .

cracked her little (about 10 of us) audience up big time! . . .
