Scientists and animal advocates agree that the presence of MRSA and other drug-resistant "superbugs" in large-scale feeding facilities spring from the routine feeding of antibiotics to livestock. About 100,000 Americans die each year after struggling with antibiotic-resistant infections, according to the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy, a public interest think tank.
With nearly 70% of antibiotics sold in the U.S. being used in factory farms, the findings add to already urgent questions about how animal-derived food in America is raised and brought to market.
http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2010/09/27/meat-tainted-with-deadly-virus-is-being-sold-to-consumers-gover/I have gotten over the worst case of the trots I ever had in my life.I had no sleep,I was getting up every 15 minutes to hit the throne, too nauseated to drink. Before I knew it I was dehydrated, and after going ,I got real dizzy and unable to stand up.The phone rang but I couldn't answer it,and so later my roommate found me on the bathroom floor. She called the ambulance.I didn't know it then but I was on that floor for around 3 hours. I was in the ER until the next morning.I was being given anti nausea stuff, fluids and antibiotics.I had a UT infection, but the idea that I could be eating mrsa and it would sicken me WAY worse than that severe diarrhea did, kinda scares me..
