Student Committed Suicide After Classmates Allegedly Recorded Him In Gay Sexual Encounter?
A Rutgers University freshman is believed to have taken his own life last week shortly after he was broadcast engaging in sexual activity with another man.

According to WPIX, officials believe the student, who the New York Daily News has identified as 18-year-old Tyler Clementi, jumped from the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 23. His car was found nearby with his computer and cellphone inside.

WPIX reports that the Clementi's alleged roommate, Dharun Ravi, and another first-year student, Molly Wei, were charged with invasion of privacy for secretly leaving a camera in the his bedroom on Sept. 19 and posting footage of an ensuing sexual encounter on the internet.

In New Jersey, it is a fourth-degree crime to collect images showing sexual content or nudity without the subject's consent, and it is a third-degree crime to transmit the relevant content. ...........(more)

8. Nobody's privacy should be breached
I could see where even a straight woman might be driven to despair if a video of her having sex was put online. Not everybody has the psychic wherewithall to withstand extreme humiliation and embarrassment.

Anybody who invades anybody's personal privacy in such a fashion should reap the consequences. What pigs.

19. You and Mimosa are both right
His privacy was just that, his.

But even then he had absolutely no reason to feel ashamed. His life was just as beautful and meaningful as anyone else's.

So sad.

13. Parents of victim should bring a wrongful death action against
those two. It will be more painful than a few weeks of community service.

20. it's okay. I do it at times. Our eyes can be really screw as we age (I'm nearly 40), sometimes the
lines go at an angle as I'm reading. But, I did catch first, instead of fifth, it could simply be that your brain just assumed fifth quickly, and skipped over the rest of the letter at lightning speed because you're so damned smart! ;) Also, you would think they'd type freshman college student, instead of first-year.

22. what a nightmare
but only slightly different than what Laura Ingram did when she went to Dartmouth. She and her editor (DeSuza) would run fake ads seeking relationships with gay men, and then out them in the Dartmouth review when gay men responded. Of course both of them are perfectly acceptable in our discource. A guy I dated in college forced me out of the closet back in the day and I nearly ended it all. It was only when I realized I couldn't prevent my parents finding out either way that I decided to tell everyone and take the plunge.
