The Insidiousness Of The Attacks Agains Obama........
I'm going to a Medical Design & Manufacturing meeting tomorrow in the Chicago area. The keynote speech tomorrow is entitled:

"Staring Into the Abyss—What Does "ObamaCare" Really Mean for Medical Technology in America?"

It is described as follows:

In this fast-paced presentation, Dr. Scott Gottlieb of the American Enterprise Institute dispels the myths of "ObamaCare" and offers his real-world predictions of what it means for medical technology in this country. Participants will leave with answers to these key questions and many more:

* Will there be price controls?
* Is rationing inevitable?
* Are we already seeing broken promises?
* How will the medical practice environment change?

American Enterprise Institute is a "Conservative" think tank.

Any doubt as to what the attendees will hear at this speech?

My guess is that this speaker will taint the minds of the attendees with scare tactics and lies about the Health Care Reform Act and that there will be a number of new recruits that will walk out of that speech damning Obama and the Dems for passing HCR.

They are attacking Obama and the Dems from all sides and in all environments. They are intent to diminish any positive action Obama and the Dems take.

How do we combat these types of attacks?

6. The names are so alike, so bland yet vaguely familiar
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I had already heard the scoop about this one.
Thank you, though.

9. AEI is/was home to Bolton, Cheney, Kristol, Wolfowitz, etc.
Some AEI scholars are considered to be some of the leading architects of the second Bush administration's public policy.<6> More than twenty AEI scholars and fellows served either in a Bush administration policy post or on one of the government's many panels and commissions. Among the prominent former government officials now affiliated with AEI are former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton, now an AEI senior fellow; former chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities; Lynne Cheney, a longtime AEI senior fellow; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, now an AEI senior fellow; former Dutch member of parliament Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an AEI visiting fellow; and former deputy secretary of defense Paul Wolfowitz, now an AEI visiting scholar. Other prominent individuals affiliated with AEI include Kevin Hassett, Frederick W. Kagan, Leon Kass, Irving Kristol, Charles Murray, Michael Novak, Norman J. Ornstein, Richard Perle, Radek Sikorski, Christina Hoff Sommers, and Peter J. Wallison.<7>

3. "Obamacare"
That pisses me right the fuck off.

Everyone knows I am not a bit shy in criticizing what we got under the term "healthcare reform" But the term "Obamacare" is charged with malice aforethought.

Your predictions are correct. Ask the association how much they were paid to allow this fuckwad to speak there.

14. Paid by the TAX-EXEMPT think tank, I think it is vital to point that out
about the likes of the AEI and Heritage Foundation.

19. I agree
I also think the term "Obamacare" ghettoizes the HCR bill. It's all steeped in racism.

When the "No Child Left Behind" got passed I don't remember any term like "ObamaCare". I remember the phrase was mocked but it wasn't tied to Juniors name.

4. Who is sponsoring this meeting?
AEI isn't even really "conservatives". They're radical neocons and their facts don't bear inspection.

Is your company sending you there?

8. The media has the power, we lack it so it will be hard to
counter attack. The Media does not and will not help.

10. AEI is the Great Satan
Cato is Satan Jr.

How to fight them? There will no doubt be a question/ answer session at the end. Ask them why The entire world has mandated non profit heathcare by law--except us. Are we morally out of step?

13. You might point out...
...that we've had health care rationing forever. If you're wealthy enough, you get some. If you're poor, tough.

15. Absolutely. Our health care rationing is worse than many third world countries
for a large segment of our population.

And somehow I really doubt that wealthy Americans will ever have to settle for anything less than their money will buy. I highly doubt that will ever change.

It says a lot about the event organizers (and none of it good) that anyone from AEI will be the keynote speaker.

You'd have to another keynote speaker that presented unbiased information to combat Gottlieb's speech & then it would become an acrimonious debate instead of something informative.

The direction the organizers wanted everyone's mind to turn is evident in their choice of speaker.

Is there no one you can complain to about the speaker? No professional organization?
