Belgian skydiver 'murdered love rival' during jump

A Belgian court has begun trying a woman accused of murdering her love rival by sabotaging her parachute on a sky dive four years ago.

Els Clottemans is accused of murdering Els Van Doren who fell 1,000m (3,200 ft) to her death while jumping with her and the man they both loved.

The three were holding hands in formation seconds before Ms Van Doren found her parachute cords had been cut.

Ms Clottemans, 26, denies the charges laid against her.

She went on trial in the Flemish town of Tongeren (French: Tongres) on Friday.

If I got to invent any law I wanted, I'd charge the guy too - it sounds like depraved indifference (or some other phrase that I learned on TV) to hook up with the victim while having the other lover sleep in the living room...
