Tax Cut Fold

So the word is that given a chance to really put the GOP on the spot — the chance to force a vote on extending only the middle-class tax cuts, forcing Republicans to vote no in order to save their beloved tax cuts for the rich — Democrats will … punt.

I guess the Blue Dogs really want to be in the minority.

1. Yes, they do.
Being the moderate Right in the minority is safe. A great stepping stone to being hired as an industry lobbyist once the apprenticeship in elected office is done.

2. They probably find it more useful
They get to pass legislation that they support, and the don't have to actually take credit for it.

3. Now, now, let's not get all partisan and political right before an election
It might have a negative effect on something, somewhere. Better to play it safe and not vote on anything. That's the key to victory: Playing not to lose.

8. If some Democrats really want to end ALL of the Bush tax cuts would this be a way to guarantee that?

11. I wonder the same thing. Maybe that's what they secretly want to do. Could repigs
(if they take over) get the tax cuts extended after Nov via a brand new bill? Would it pass through the Senate? Would the Prez veto such a bill? So many questions!

12. All I wanted was for them to NOT extend the rich tax cuts. That's what they did.
:dem:

I see no cause for alarm here.
