Senators want CIA to release 9/11 report

WASHINGTON - A bipartisan group of senators is pushing legislation that would force the CIA to release an inspector general's report on the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The CIA has spent more than 20 months weighing requests under the Freedom of Information Act for its internal investigation of the attacks but has yet to release any portion of it.

The agency is the only federal office involved in counterterrorism operations that has not made at least a version of its internal 9/11 investigation public.

Sen. Ron Wyden (news, bio, voting record), D-Ore., and two other intelligence committee leaders — chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., and senior Republican Kit Bond of Missouri — are pushing legislation that would require the agency to declassify the executive summary of the review within one month and submit a report to Congress explaining why any material was withheld.

Bond Suffers Bruises After Being Hit By Car

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Kit Bond suffered a few bumps and bruises, but no serious injuries when he was struck by a car earlier this week.

A spokeswoman said the Missouri Republican was walking near his Washington home Wednesday morning when he was hit by a car turning a corner.

Bond did not file a police report or go to the hospital, and he did not miss any votes.

An X-ray of his shoulder taken later at the Capitol physician's office did not reveal any damage.

3. is there any evidence that it was a hit and run?
The article doesn't say so, which suggests to me that it was not hit and run.

18. Also odd he didn't file a police report.
IMO, at least. I certainly would have.

4. Why Would Bond Being Hit By A Car Make Him Choose To Push For The Release Of This Report?
Based on the articles, he was hit by the car prior to any public disclosure of the action.

9. On the tin foil side, the hit and run could have just been a warning shot
It could be that it was meant to provide him a warning that if he pushed for legislation worse could happen.

14. Obtuse, intentionally.
I am convinced that you are intentionally obtuse about a whole boatload of subjects, but what I am unsure of is why.

And by the way, it is obvious to the observant.

15. What On Earth Are You Blathering On About? It Was An Accurate Observation On My Part.
Edited on Fri May-18-07 03:19 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
He was hit by the car Monday or Tuesday but the public being made aware of the bill as well as his comments on it weren't until yesterday. So there was some conflict in the tin foil theory when it comes to logical timing. You have a problem with that why now? Would you rather that potential inaccuracies of premise went unquestioned? Why on earth would you want that? That would benefit us how now?

You're just silly to me.

16. Well, duh...
In tinfoil hatty mode... obviously they were trying to ward off the release, hence the hit came before the release.

Elementary.

5. ...
:tinfoilhat:

Kit is a tough old bird. I don't think he will intimidate easily... if that was what was intended. Bet the other publicans are taking notes tho.

Perhaps this tactic will backfire and the publicans will indicate they are onboard with the impeachment/removal from office option.

6. You could be right.....they may have been trying to do him in or
give him a little nudge. I still think Wellstone was assassinated. If I were Wyden I'd watch my back. Rockefeller has protection. I don't take off my tin foil hat much anymore!

Edited on Fri May-18-07 02:25 PM by formercia
he was driving a couple of senior folks through DC in a snowstorm when he ran over a pedestrian. He kept on driving and heard one of his passengers remark "this is just the kind of guy we need in OPS."

He was soon transferred to the DO.

12. It is just as likely Bond was drunk and fell down in the gutter.
This abusive piece of shit has NO redeeming qualities. The only people Bond stands up to are airline stewardesses and then when his blood alcohol approaches .05. Mr. Bond is one of the top Bush-Cheney-Gonzales "voter fraud" advocates. No RW neo-con has to threaten Bond, just tell him what to do if he is sober enough.

Be assured he is somewhere in the middle of the Justice Department firing debacle. If he is making honest noises now about 9-11 he is scared and wants a diversion.

It wasn't an Impala, was it? If so, I think I know who was driving:

She's done this sort of thing before, so she has experience...
