Could our government be too small?
The fact is that DOT can build roads quicker, cheaper and better than private contractors. As it is now, DOT has to constantly look over the shoulder of contractors to get the job done properly. If the work was done by DOT, quality materials would be used, equipment would be well maintained, employees would be well trained, and work sites would be safer, and all for far less than we're now spending. Somehow this waste of the taxpayer dollar gets overshadowed by the fear of "big government".

1. Its called Republicans for many years taking govt jobs and responsibilities and farming
them out to contractors... These contractors are "cheaper", however, they usually use illegal hiring practices, use shitty materials, and normally go over the bidded quoted money and time. Its not better, its just siphoning off tax money to rich people.

4. That's just it. Private contractors aren't cheaper.
And they cheat on materials and labor.

I always point this out to libertarians, and their response is always "But that's not how I would run things."

Fucking idiots.

3. Yes, it definitely is. But rather than compete honestly in a free-market system...
...business crooks found it was easier to suck the lifeblood from a well-functioning society by selling a myth of private sector efficiency.
