Tea Party aftertaste
I understand that there are many who see what happened in the primaries and going "tee-Hee", that the GOP is doomed because "nobody would elect people like THOSE ones!"

Folks, the GOP is playing to one of our well-known weaknesses, our arrogance. Granted, it is an arrogance based on Logic and a through knowledge of history, but it is still arrogance. Do not fall for the "Civil War" rhetoric where Rove and Hasselbeck fight; it is about as real as pro-wrestling. They want us to think that the GOP is breaking up, so we can either sit things out, or continue to fight with each other. The left fights over ideals, but the right is based on fear and greed, which corrals people into herds. The very same people who swear they would "never" vote for so and so will do so, because the real power, the news media, including Tweety as well as Fox News, will tell them that we will be eaten by Obama if they do not. Sadly,-->SOME<-- on the the far left will also buy into this, as people like Ted Rall and Jane Hamsher wish they could have a left version of the Tea party, and actually are foolish enough to buy into the idea that the Tea Party is about genuine populist anger. We all know the real reason: that many "Americans of European descent" are angry that they are not the default setting for power in this country anymore, and they cannot admit that this nation is in the jam it is in because they let Wall Street get drunk and then handed them the keys to the car, which they drove over the cliff.

As is, this country, and yes, the democrats, are too far to the right, but if the Tea party wins, we will have said, loud and clear, that this country's soul is not far enough to the right. All our talk will be rendered mute, as we will have rewarded the Tea party POWER, knowing full well that Fox and others will turn the thinnest of thin victories into a mandate from Seventh heaven, writ in the blood of God!
