Ah who remembers the Parade of Ships for the Bicentennial?
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 12:44 AM by nadinbrzezinski
I do... and I wasn't even in this country. I mean it was cool, that many square riggers.

So on the sixteen of this month Mexico celebrates her bicentennial with a different method. Mexico always has a military parade for the 16th, this year, my mom told me, there will be contingents from all over the world, and it is going on the web.

Here is the official Government site... if you got nothing better to do... or are just curious.

http://www.bicentenario.gob.mx/

I will be down there, visiting parents... so I will watch this. It should be fun... 'xcept for them damn fireworks on the 15... I expect them to be LOUD. And no I don't like them on July 4th either.

oops left site off... silly

COOL... if you read spanish... I am in heaven. I KNOW what I will be doing on the 15th... COOLNESS of COOLNESS.

Oh and welcome to the world, if you manage to make to 100 you will hit the 300, assuming this country makes it.

7. I visited that ship in Baltimore.
I marveled that anyone could have lived on it. It did not seem real that it had traveled so far and come back in one piece. Those sailors really took their lives in their hands when they sailed on those ships.

6. Thanks for posting this link

Great website chock full of information for students and anyone interested in Mexican history, culture etc.

And a great refresher course for my university studies a long time ago. :)

Btw, there is an English version of the website for those whose Spanish may be a little rusty:

http://english.bicentenario.gob.mx/

Site's Radio 2010 has been playing traditional Mexican songs and giving historical anecdotes:

Envy your going ...

10. Will there be a contingent from the US?
That has always been a touchy thing in Mexico, for a damn good reason!
