This seems encouraging.

"If Iraq parliament wants withdrawal, we do too.“ Some key Republican supporters of President Bush’s Iraq war policy said this week that if the Iraqi parliament calls for the withdrawal of U.S. troops, their position could change dramatically.” Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL), the No. 3 House Republican, says, “I suspect we would respect their wishes. … I think that it would reflect a successful, healthy and well-running parliamentary organization that was delivered to that nation by the sacrifices of our fighting men and women.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made similar statements this weekend.

1. I thought the Iraq parliament had already said that
McConnell and the others are realizing that if they don't do something about the war, the GOP will be voted out of office across the board.

Maybe they now realize they can't depend on anything Petraeus will/won't
say come September, so this is their new tactic. And I agree, it's all about saving their own skin. Also, I too thought the Iraqi Parliament wants us gone.

6. They did ... isn't it strange that, when Bush puts forth some "goals" for the Iraqis to reach,
and then they reach them, Bush says "No, we're still staying ..."

Holding elections ... asking the U.S. to leave ... etc. ... and we're still there ...

8. That same logic applies to the great military minds he said he'd listen
to, until he didn't/doesn't/won't. It all depends on whether someone is saying something he wants to hear.

3. A bunch of cowardly criminal republicans looking for cover
because they are too damned proud to admit bush was wrong and they were wrong to support him. The noise coming from Iraq is just the cover they are looking for. "Hey, they want us out, so I guess we gotta bring the troops home, with honor, waving flags, with big parades, greet them at home with flowers; yeah thats the ticket." Oh yeah, republicans stay as far away from those cemetaries as you can.

5. They have enabled the deaths of hundreds of thousands
I want them punished for that. We all know what rethug motives are regardless of the subject.
