So where's the mention of his segregationist stances, his illegal funneling of church funds to political groups, his demonization of Jewish and gay people? The editorial board feels he was too important for "fighting the left" to be concerned with such.

1. Ironic, isn't it? The media trashed Kurt Vonnegut who spent his life

trying to banish loneliness from the world (among other things), but Falwell, who was a corrupt, bloated windbag who spewed nothing but hatred is called 'great'.

I have to point out that this phrase is such an understatement as to be indirect praise of Falwell. Unfortunately, I don't have the language skills to truly express the hideous nature of Falwell's hatefulness.

so I missed it, but I'm sure the same media who lambasted Vonnegut surely held Falwell over the coals for his segregationist, anti-Semitic, hate speech, not to mention his apparent flip-flop regarding organized religion's role in government right?

I mean, the media is just a big Hollywood liberal machine, that I'm sure between stories about how to simultaneously fist both of your bisexual atheist partners and how to make a dirty bomb (heh), they had a scathing report detailing Falwell's attack on the first amendment and his creation of a religious lobbying group hell bent on making America a nation of God Warriors. Am I right or am I right?
