A 28-year-old Vancouver (Washington, not BC -) woman severely burned when another woman threw an acid-like liquid in her face is listed in serious condition in the burn center of a Portland, Ore., hospital.

Nancy Neuwelt is the mother of the injured woman, Bethany Storro. Neuwelt tells The Oregonian her daughter had purchased a pair of sunglasses shortly before the Monday evening attack and that decision may have saved her eyesight. Still, her family says her face will take months to heal. Neuwelt says her daughter was getting something out of her car in downtown Vancouver when a young woman walked up, said "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?" and tossed a cup of liquid in Storro's face.

Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp says doctors are trying to determine what kind of material caused Storro's facial burns. Police are also testing the liquid to see what it is.

1. That is a 1984 refrence.

In that book, there was a group of people that worked as a fault tolerance system.

They would go through to people and recruit people, get them to do bad things, then use those things against them.

Basically in the story, it broke down the concept of big brother being worse or better, by people against big brother willing to do the same things.

Hence why I do nothing. since I wont agree to doing wrong to hurt someone to think it would make things better.

However I do like mental puzzles. And thinking of stories.

5. I don't think I've ever heard of a woman doing this sort of thing before.

Usually, it's like a stalker, ex-boyfriend, or "honor killing" type deal. You have to be pretty fucked up to carry out something like this.

6. Yeah that's what struck me

I think I may have read of this type of attack once or twice by a stranger - usually a man. But most times it is someone who the victim knows who would pull this type of sick attack. I hope they catch the woman who did this. Sick!
