'make me do it' ...tired of running around trying to put out fires?
If Obama believes we need to apply pressure to him, fine.
But should we really have to man the phones, letters and petitions in a case as clear as Alan Simpson? The right thing to do is completely obvious. We should be able to take it for granted that a Democratic president would fire a person who has clearly verbalized his disdain for SS recipients on more than one occasion, from a commission on Social Security!

The very fact that we need to try to 'make him' do this is sickening.
Of course this isn't the only example of our dilemma, but it serves as a good one.

We expend energy we should not have to on this stuff.
Ever get tired of running around trying to put out fires?

2. Total agreement from another sickened person.
This is one more HUGE diversion.

While we can't get people to do the work of fighting for real housing for millions of us, we must spend our time and money and effort for this kind of nauseating crap!

I am so furious about this that I will not even do the little thing of an email.

Maybe if it all collapses, then the DLCers will begin to understand what they have brought about.

:nuke:

8. it certainly is the way of things
it might as well be deliberate as it keeps us out of focus and obscures the very issues you mention. The one thing they seem to forget is people are suffering and sick of the BS.

They. Don't. Give. A. Flying. Fuck.

And I was excoriated on here for saying that Obama wasn't interested in poverty!

Sometimes it really isn't a victory to be right.

15. You are so right, but I gave up trying to get that point across.
If I had my wish, I would be somewhere far off come early November, because I think there is going to be great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

And it ain't our fault.

We told 'em.

They chose to label us as "fucking retards".

They reap what they sow.

6. The first part, where FDR says," I'm willing to do what you say..."
Edited on Thu Aug-26-10 02:40 PM by librechik
was apparently a lie. Because, no matter how hard we pushed, the decision was already made and unchangeable. An offer like that has to be made in good faith, and I am sorry to say that for whatever reason, Obama has decided he will break his faithful commitment to us. He isn't willing to do what we say. He's only willing to do what Wall Street, Geithner, Rahm, Summers, Duncan Petraeus and Pete Peterson say.

14. I love how everyone latched onto that part of Obama's speech.
Everyone heard "make me do it".

They didn't hear "change won't happen overnight."
They didn't hear "we all have to keep working."

Selective hearing at its finest.

NB. Simpson should go - that's not anything I'm objecting to. I am just tired of hearing that line to the exclusion of everything else.

17. Strange
"change won't happen overnight."

The change we have seen is the opposite direction we want to go

"we all have to keep working."

He is working the wrong side and we do not want to go there

"make me do it".

If he does not know where this country needs to go then that is not our fault.
He needs to lead, and lead hard and fast, this country does not have the time to wait and see.

26. And I supposed you'd say we've just about turned fascist?
Seriously, there's a wide, wide spectrum. We aren't socialist no, but we are indisputably moving leftwards as a nation under Obama.

Only a dimwit can't understand that there's a lot of room between far left and far right. Are you a dimwit?

30. I would
The insurance industry wrote the insurance reform law. Big Pharma got a prohibition on government negotiating discounts on drugs. Wall Street got the bailout and continues to fuck small business and workers. BP controls the information flow as well as the coverup and "cleanup" of the spill.

Yeah, I'd say we are STILL moving towards fascism. Just not at light speed as it was under Shrub and the rethuglicans.

Obama isn't so much as moving as to the left, as he is slowing us towards complete corporate control. He needs to move faster or there will be nothing left.

It's now been well over 24 hours since the Simpson revelation.

He's STILL an asshole who's agenda is CLEAR and against everything Dems have traditionally stood for.

When does the call for resignation start?

36. The great thing about "make me do it" and "won't happen overnight" is that they're open-ended.
"Nope, haven't made me do it yet...nope, not yet...no, no, you still haven't got it...I can't hear you...it's not going to happen overnight...mh-hm, I know...keep trying...haven't made me do it yet..."
