By The Way: A Heads Up To Any DU'ers Blocked At Work Or Using A Proxy:
DU has been blocked at my work for quite some time now and it has driven me nuts. I then learned to use proxy sites to navigate DU from work, but then weeks back they were blocked as well. Totally sucked!

Well, consider me shocked when all of a sudden today I learned DU is no longer blocked by my work's filter. I have NO IDEA WHY. But I wanted to give a head's up to any other DU'ers who may have blocks at work, to give it a try again and see if they don't have the same good fortune as I've had today. I hope you do!

Cause all I know is, as of right now, I GOT MY DU BACK!

3. A lot of companies use a standard blocking software from one of the
major companies. When they update there block list, all companies using their software will get a new block list.

6. Can anybody recommend a proxy that works with youtube?
I've been trying freeproxy.ca, but it doesn't seem to work with Youtube. Thoughts?

7. Could be a ploy by management to trap you. . .
into a fireable offense. Why block the site when they can weed out the users?

I figure, if a company takes the time and effort to block specific sites, they have reasons for unblocking them, too. Could just be a glitch in the software, a programmer with a different attitude, or it could be a plot.

8. Nah. I'm In A Good Company And Am One Of The Most Valuable Assets Here.
In fact, I was just promoted 2 weeks ago and praised to such a degree that I can be as close to 100% certain as one can ever be that I have a secure job and career.

Besides, my company ain't evil like that anyway. We are going through a huge merger right now anyway though and many people will be losing jobs from the company we bought (and some from ours as well), but they wouldn't incorporate tactics such as those you state in order to do so. They are far more direct and blunt with no need for games. Like I said though, I'm one of only very few people who actually knows their job is secure right now. I feel for the hundreds of others who do not yet have a clue.

9. Yes, I too feel for those who do not yet have a clue. . .
especially those who labor in corporate America.
