1. That is where I was stationed
Would love to see it but I don't have cable. I was in North Fort rather than Main Post.

4. I was stationed aboard USS Enterprise at Bremerton
When I got out I almost stayed in Seattle area.
From time to time I wish that I had instead of going home to nazibama.

5. Someone in my unit
had a wife in the Navy stationed up there though I don't know what ship.

I do kind of wish I stayed up there considering it was much more progressive in those areas than here in AZ but I prefer the weather here minus the summer heat.

2. There are thousands of armed troops stationed at Fort Lewis.
How long must Obama continue this cruel occupation of Tacoma?

6. Tacoma must be occupied until the "Tacoma Aroma" is ended.
If you've been there, you know what I mean.

7. Really?
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 01:23 PM by JonLP24
I've been there as recently as '08 and didn't smell anything unusual.

To describe something to hopefully prove I've been there is the roads, especially coming in from I-5, go up very noticeably. It keeps going until it is a flat and the locals call that neighborhood "Hilltop". Also I recall trying to be very careful releasing the brake and accelerating (especially if cars where behind me) stopped at intersections.

10. I found this looking up those two words
Beginning in the 1930s, Tacoma became known for the "Tacoma Aroma", a distinctive, acrid odor produced by paper manufacturing on the industrial tide flats. In the late 1990s, Simpson Tacoma Kraft reduced total sulfur emissions by 90%. This largely eliminated the problem; where once the aroma was ever-present, it is now only noticeable occasionally, primarily when the wind is coming from the east.

Admittedly I didn't live there and mostly been on the east side. I've been down to South Tacoma Way, Tacoma Dome, and South Tacoma Mall more than a few times. Not sure if I was in the right places to smell it or maybe I did and completely forgot.
