Here's what the Gibbs controversy kept off the main page here.
Reports are starting to trickle in that health insurance rates are going way up.

4. So Gibbs really did learn something from his fellow right wingers in the Bush Crime Family?
Every time bad news was close to surfacing about those bastards they would make up a new "terra threat" or some other distraction to dominate the whore media news cycle, and keep them from actually reporting the news.

And it certainly worked for Gibbs slanderous attack in December 2003 on the only candidate who could have beaten the Chimp.

Can't have the news that false "health care reform" has failed hit the headlines, now can we?

9. Are we getting played, or what?
Politics can be nasty. Politicians make strange bedfellows.

Methinks there are great attempts being made to sanitize nearly everything.

Even the tebaggers get sanitized by the press.
It's all a game to get and keep power, eh?

Here's a suggestion -- READ other sites!
DU shouldn't be the page one goes to for news (no offense to Skinner, etc.,).

10. Yeah, I read that one
but all that stuff disappeared after what Gibbs said. A day late perhaps.

Not that I'm actually saying I think they orchestrated it, but stranger things have happened.

16. After many years my plan
was suddenly and summarily abolished last Fall by the Insurance Company. The nearest plan they were offering that would partially replicate the better one they did away with cost 41% more and had significantly less benefits/services.

17. I am really starting to think
that TPTB want us to die en masse. They know there's too many for the resources available. Next WW3.

I've read stats that if a person lives past 60, there'a a good chance for that person to live to 70 and beyond. I think they're going after the 50-55 crowd.

At least they could provide assisted suicide for those not willing to give their last cent to Bib Med/Pharma/Insurance.

Simple.

14. Not surprising
They are anticipating (probably overly so) the impact of not being able to refuse clients, or of being able to significantly vary the premiums. Alot of people are going to see big increases. They may quickly move into the "cadillac" range too. There weren't alot of cost controls in the bill, especially of actual health care costs.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/08/09/BAR91EPHDJ.DTL

One could argue that rates were going to go up by that amount anyway, but HCR is now getting the blame, or some of it.

20. Oh, not from me
I think it's fair to say it failed to stop it, but yes, the insurance companies are more than happy to squeeze us for all they can get for sky-high profits regardless of what "reforms" they have or haven't been hit with.

If HCR contributed to rising rates, it's probably just in the fact that the whole thing was such a fiasco they know they have wiggle room now to abuse us with a very low risk of politicians taking up that exhausting cause again anytime soon.
