Hope someone remembers and reports this about Falwell

http://atheism.about.com/b/a/258114.htm

September 13, 2001:

During an exchange with Pat Robertson on the 700 Club, Jerry Falwell explained what he thought caused the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center:

“The ACLU’s got to take a lot of blame for this. ... And I know that I’ll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say: “You helped this happen.””

Yeah...like the MSM is going to let those memories be on TV... :eyes:

1. Video here:

It's a great illustration on why so many of us are not exactly mournful of the news of his death.

2. I certainly hope KO and Jon and Amy and the others remind people of what a hate-filled, loathesome
piece of garbage he actually was.

5. No, Regent Law School
is Pat Robertson's. I think that Jerry was trying to start a law school at Liberty University, his school. IIRC, Liberty's graduation is this Saturday and McCain was scheduled to speak.

3. I'm not going to trash a dead man
but I am going to maintain his legacy as a case against theocracy in the land of the free. Irony, I got my ACLU membership renewal in the mail today.

It is rather disturbing that a segment of society chooses not to take responsibility for anything, rather spends time and energy and money and resources blaming others.

4. But we're supposed to say nice things about him,
'cause he's dead and all. :sarcasm:

6. You got your wish - from story on CNN's front page:
Falwell has found himself at the center of several controversies, such as the one sparked by his comments two days after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in which he seemed to blame "abortionists," gays, lesbians, the ACLU and People for American Way for causing the attacks, saying they "helped this happen."

On September 14, 2001, he told CNN that he would "never blame any human being except the terrorists, and if I left that impression with gays or lesbians or anyone else, I apologize."

I guess Falwell knows the truth now...
