CNN reports that anti-gay bigot Jerry Falwell was found unconscious in his office this morning. His condition is reportedly "gravely ill."

Falwell is a nasty man. He is one of the worst anti-gay bigots of the religious right. I don't like speaking ill of someone who may be dying, but there is no way to discuss this incredibly offensive religious extremist without discussing the hate that made up so much of his life.

Falwell reportedly found unconscious, hospitalized

The Rev. Jerry Falwell was found unconscious in his office today and taken to a hospital, a Liberty University executive told a newspaper. Ron Godwin, the executive vice president of Falwell's Liberty University, said Falwell was found unresponsive around 10:45 a.m. and taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. Godwin said he was not sure what caused the collapse, but said Falwell "has a history of heart challenges."

7. I hate to be thankful for the death of anyone

but this man with his hate and bile (as others said) has been long overdue. Two more vitreous spewers of hate to be sanctioned.

...to see that CNN had used that headline.

Falwell's passing will be a mere wisp in the flow of time passing. His place here was an irritation, an agitation, a discomfort to those he openly and unashamedly ridiculed and abused in the name of self-righteousness to further his own personal narrowly centered religious agenda. His presence now will be viewed as a sand storm on the Sahara Desert that has raged for decades forcing grains of sand which lodged into travelers eyes that needed to be washed out by their tears.

Now the storm has ebbed. As time distances the affected and offended from the actually events of this man's kerfuffle, past and future travelers will see that his rantings were mere momentary discomforts. Now that Jerry Falwell has so easily and predictably fallen to his own self indulgences he joins the ranks of the many mediocre icons left to dry to dust upon the hot dry sands of the desert he stirred up. Mr. Falwell rest in peace. Fellow travelers, move on with more comfort in the knowing that yet another obstacle was knocked away!
