Did anyone watch Naomi Campbell give testimony against Charles Taylor?
She was most certainly nervous. Asked about her nerves she said she feared for the safety of her family, which is more than understandable. Taylor was behind the butchering of hundreds of thousands of people and it must be absolutely terrifying to be a star witness in more than one way against such a creature. What about his external contacts? What if he gets off?

The Judge however appeared to be decidedly cruel. To me the Prosecution Lawyer was trying to to ease the nerves of Naomi Campbell by saying she was a Court Witness and not a prosecution witness. The Judge replied she was either a prosecution witness or not a witness at all.

It has taken 10 years to get this far. I'm guessing that leaves 7 or 8 years for Bush and Blair to face the same people.

1. i expect that she still has the stone and may have sent it out to be cut
and set. I wonder why they didn't bring the stone itself to court in addition to her testimony.

2. She says she gave them away
she had thought that they were dirty pebbles and they looked nothing like the diamonds that she was used to. Having never seen an uncut diamond, I am pretty sure that they do look nothing like jewellery.

3. Naomi Campbell is not known for her sterling character....
I don't have much faith in what she has to say.

4. The BBC snippets I saw showed her as kind of noncommittal
and apathetic...she mentioned on more than a couple of times the "inconvenience" of putting her life on hold and showing up for the trial...She also had the general tone of "I'm only here because I have to be here" about the whole thing...

6. She was complaining about the inconvenience of putting her life
and the life of her family at risk and she wanted it over as soon as possible. I think that was very understandable.

8. She didn't look nervous to me
just plain ignorant - she didn't know there was a country named Liberia.
