Do we want Boener to be in charge?
I don't like the way things are right now, but, they are far
better than having Repugs in charge. We are at a tipping
point, the corporations run everything, and it's hard to take
away their power, we have chipped at it. It's a start and
they are mad. Because they know, once we get our foot in the
door, it can go further. I know it's not a big enough chip,
but I think this is the way it has to be, these people are
powerful and it has to be done slowly. But we did get further
than we were before, our foot is in the door. Thats why they
have to take it away from us, they know we can open the door
and they will be gone forever. We need to do this.

3. The Democrats have chipped away at corporate power?
Edited on Fri Jul-30-10 06:38 PM by Marr
I guess I missed that. I saw them institutionalize the same corrupt industry that has destroyed healthcare in the US, just as it was killing itself with it's own crooked practices. I saw them bailout the banks instead of seize the opportunity to change things. I've seen them side with Wall Street against Main Street on everything from energy to education, but I guess I missed the chipping part.

7. Just Wait...
Fortunately this shitbag can't set the agenda or the bills being debated or how the votes are taken. Guess some want that to change. The House has taken the lead on many issues...including Health Care With a Public option (that was poisoned in the Senate)...ya think Boner called those shots? Instead we'll have tax breaks for the rich, protection for corporates and billions for corporate welfare. I guess that's what some people here really want...

10. I think what some people here really want
is a Democratic Party that advocates for the people. It's really that simple I think, but I also realize that the DLC New Dems have scuttled that platform in favor of moneyed corporate interests. I'm not so sure how long the middle class and the poor can hold out with both major political parties suckling the corporate teat. The safe bet is likely that it's already too late. A few very minor bones along the way for show, but accompanied by far more damaging legislation. I am not optimistic at what the future holds.

8. no. I want dennis Kucinich and Russ Feingold in charge.
You give a false dilemma between two bowls of shit: control by the Republicans or control by the DLC/Blue dog Democrats. I don't want either.

11. For those who attack your point ....
Would the GOP have extended unemployment benefits if they had control?

Would there be any discussion about making Bush's tax cuts permanent ... would the GOP do it if they could??

Would they end Medicare? Make abortion in all cases illegal? Make being gay illegal?

Make a list of supreme court nominees that Mitt Romney would appoint.

Does any democrat advocate killing the department of education?

Which party would kill Medicare and Social security in a heart-beat?

The current Dems are weak and pathetic ... and sadly, they are our current firewall ... if you want to scream, SCREAM!!

But let's do it in local and state primaries. You don't like YOUR local or state DEM house / senate person ... find an alternative and support them.
