Colorado GOP Self-Destructs.
In public, on the radio air.

Later today go to the Peter Boyles radio show and listen to the first 30 minutes of the 8:00AM hour.

http://www.khow.com/pages/boyles.html

Tom Tancredo and Repuglican state chairperson Dick Wadhams tear each other apart -- calling each other liars, so on and so forth.

Tancredo is going to switch parties this afternoon to the American Constitution Party and run for governor.

Theater of the absurd in the Colorado GOP ... and great political drama/comedy!

2. Good. Might save the Senate seat and help Dems gain a governorship.

7. Wouldn't a challenger on the right siphon off R votes?
Like, there are two kinds of Republican: the wackjob and the psychopath. They need the votes of both to win. If the nutsos abandon the Rs, the latter are in deep shit.

8. The "mainstream" guy, Scott McInnis, was caught plagiarizing and completely fucked himself.
The rest of the GOP is desperately trying to push McInnis to bow out, after he plagiarized an essay and got paid $300,000 for it.

McInnis is pulling a Michael Steele and fighting tooth and nail to stay in.

Tom Tancredo threatened to run for governor under the banner of the Constitution Party if McInnis and his opponent didn't both quit the race.

What's likely to happen is that McInnis will win the primary this August, more or less by default since his opponent's a raving lunatic and has his own ethics issues (caught with his hand in the campaign finance cookie jar, had to pay big fines...)

Then the national GOP is likely to try to force the winner to bow out, by starving his campaign of funds, so they can plant their own candidate picked in a smoke-filled room.

Here, have some popcorn!

11. No, Hickenlooper is a strong Dem canddidate...
The two RETHUGS in the primary are both right wing wackos and Tancredo makes the two of them look slightly more sane. This is a RETHUG self-immolation in progress, at least as far as the Governor's race (and I do think also for the Senate seat).

4. The spectacle of two Republicans calling each other liars
is actually kinda mind-boggling. It's the only instance I can think of in which two Republicans simultaneously told the truth.

Is it okay if I steal that post for a new sig line?

10. Oh, boy.
During that segment of his show, Boyles essentially called Wadhams a liar, too!

The McInnis plagiarism scandal and the Tancredo third party run for governor is the result, in my opinion, of the Teabagger takeover of the Repuglican Party. The crazies are ascendant, they have made "moderate" Repuglicans untenable in their own party.

My prediction is that what is happening in Colorado will happen in other states if not this election year, then next -- the Teabagger revolution will be guillotining their own soon.

By the way, I don't like Boyles either ... but unfortunately our local progressive talk show host, David Sirota, was blabbing about the decline in tuna fish populations at the same time. This is why liberal talk radio gets in trouble, the hosts too often give the impression that they don't want to "dirty" themselves by talking about something as crass as 'politics' when there are more important 'issues' to discuss.

Frankly, Sirota has a pretty boring show ... and that makes me mad because like him or not, Boyles talks often about Colorado politics with Colorado people with plenty of local callers. Sirota needs to get local so that Democrats and liberals and progressives have a real alternative to a reactionary like Boyles.

20. Pray for the full recovery of...
Jay Marvin. When I was trucking and spent much time in Denver, Fort Collins, and Cheyenne (AM 760 reaches there easily) as I did many NW-SE runs I made it a point to turn Sirius off to listen to him in the AM.
