Investigative Journalist Greg Palast Reports on the Firing of New Mexico Attorney David Iglesias

On a single day, December 7, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales demanded the resignations of 8 United States Attorneys. What was really the purpose of the firings - and who was behind it? Investigative journalist Greg Palast reports. We turn to the latest in the US attorney firing scandal. Nearly half of the US attorneys slated for removal by the Bush administration last year were targeted for not doing enough to prosecute voter fraud. According to the Washington Post, of the twelve US attorneys known to have been dismissed or considered for removal last year, five were identified by presidential advisor Karl Rove or other administration officials as working in districts that were trouble spots for voter fraud: Kansas City, Milwaukee, New Mexico, Nevada and Washington state. Four of the five prosecutors in those districts were fired.

Perhaps the most well-known of these US attorneys is ousted New Mexico prosecutor David Iglesias. His case has been at the center of the political firestorm. Investigative journalist Greg Palast has been closely following this story. He files a report and joins us in our firehouse studio.

1. Really good; mentions all about the e-mails, how thousands of

soldiers were disenfranchised, the complicity of Tim Griffin.

3 million votes challenged, most soldiers who lost their vote were Hispanic/African American and DON'T EVEN KNOW IT.

AND truth telling . He was wonderful on Democracy Now ( my favorite TV program)

3. What I like is that he can simplify a complicated situation so anyone

can grasp the basics. I hope I can find a video of that later in the day. And RFK, Jr. is right; Rove, Griffin, et al., belong in jail.:grr:

4. I have watched Democracy Now, on and off for the last 5 years and this was the slickest

report I've ever seen. Reminiscent of how Palast reports for the BBC.

First! I had no idea that Inglesias was the model for the lawyer in A Few Good Men! Wow!
Secondly..Tim Griffin was behind the caging lists! I certainly hope that the powers that be in DC have all of this information.
Thirdly... lots of controversy here yesterday in regard to Palast having access to those emails that many of us saw several years ago here at DU...they lit up in his mailbox from all concerned people on the Net that viewed them. I really wish he would have said that directly and given credit to a vigorous Internet community who wants the Truth to come out.

It's wonderful....just bought "armed Madhouse" for my enlightened mother in law for her Mother's Day gift......bless her heart...when I called her late last night to tell her we had arrived safely back home she was already into the book....she's going to share when she gets done!I feel sorta of guilty about doing that for a "gift" (one that keeps on giving!) but she kept hinting so.....what could I do?!
